I recently got to travel to the beautiful mountains of NC to a little town called Sapphire to meet up with Whitney and Kent for their engagement session. It was an absolutely gorgeous day - bright blue skies, and just the beginning of the leaves turning color.
They met at a Duke Athletics function one night... she was the event planner, and he was attending. They spoke for a while, and the next day Whitney heard from the Duke football coach. He wanted her phone number, which he then passed on to Kent. And, as they say, the rest is history. |

This spot is the cutest little camp ever, and was the summer playground for Whitney for years while she was a kid. Kent has adopted this place as his own, too, and now they make trips up there a few times a year together.

They are the sweetest couple, so cute together and undeniably in love. My favorite kind.

Whitney is something of a canoeing expert, and Kent is learning quickly. But whether they're going in a straight line or around in circles, they are always smiling and laughing.

I loved these paddles - Whitney told me that each camper gets to decorate one when they're at camp... what a fun idea!

I absolutely love this shot - Whitney stayed in this cabin one summer when she was a camper, so it's sentimental. But what I adore even more is the look of pure joy on Whitney's face. She lights up like this every time she looks at Kent.
Whitney and Kent, thanks for spending the afternoon with me. I can't wait for your wedding! |

The first thing Caroline and Jimmy said when we met for their engagement session at Lake Norman was that they want to have some fun and possibly jump in the lake at the end. Seriously, I could not ask for better clients!
Caroline and Jimmy are young and beautiful and oh so in love. They are getting married next spring in Charlotte, North Carolina, and thought it would be fun to spend the day in one of the most beautiful areas outside the city. I had a blast with this high energy couple and cannot wait for their wedding! |

...followed by more fun! I love this little barn area we found by the boat docks.

Caroline, you are seriously gorgeous!

Does anyone know what these are? They were lying on the ground around a tree but none of us could figure out what they were...besides awesome eye masks. ;)

Jimmy asked if we could have a sword fight with sticks. Heck yeah! First they picked their weapons of choice. Jimmy picked his first, then Caroline picked one that may have given her a bit of an advantage.

So, Jimmy decided to re-pick. This was going to be a serious sword fight!

Our last stop of the day was at the lake. Or rather IN the lake! The sun was setting, which filled these next shots with golden light. Love it!

Favorite shot of the day. I'm pretty sure this is one of my favorite images at an engagement session ever.

Caroline and Jimmy, you seriously made my day. Thank you so much for being so fun to work with and being willing to do whatever for your shoot! If you are this much fun on your wedding day, it's going to be an awesome one!

Laura and David are a wonderful couple who are getting married next May. They love to spend time at the beach, relax on the couch and go to dinner together. Brent and I met up with them at Wrightsville Beach for an afternoon of sun, surf and sand! Laura and David shared their first place together at Wrightsville Beach and towards the end of the session we stopped by their old place for a stroll down memory lane.
Thanks so much to Laura and David for a great session and we know that your wedding is going to be wonderful!

Laura is so beautiful and her smile shines!

Congrats again to Laura and David on your engagement!

Carrie and Erik were married in Asheville, North Carolina, on the beautifully scenic grounds of The Crest Center. The day was filled with special touches and sentimental moments. One thing that stuck out for me during this wedding was that spending time with their guests was very important to this couple. They sacrificed time elsewhere to be with their guests during cocktail hour and remained surrounded by friends and family the entire night.
The day officially started for me when Carrie slipped on her dress. Her mother helped her with the final details while her bridesmaids watched in awe at this beautiful girl. Carrie, you really were a stunning bride! |

Each girl received a custom clutch to match their personality. How cute is that?

My fantastic assistant for the day, Ashley, got some great shots of the guys while I was with Carrie and her girls! Thanks Ashley!

The Trolley Company was the main source of transportation for the wedding party and added a bit of fun and southern charm to this already gorgeous day.

The ceremony grounds overlooked a beautiful mountainside in the hills of North Carolina. Picturesque in every way!

While I was shooting from this angle during a funny moment in the ceremony...

...my assistant Ashley caught this angle. Love it!

One quick candid of the wedding party together...

...and one shot of the bride and groom was all we had time for before heading off to the cocktail hour. What a beautiful day! I mean, look at those blue skies!

There were games, drinks, and a personal family tree to sign for the bride and groom during cocktail hour. This part of the day is one of my favorites to photograph because of the golden light.

Carrie and Erik even got in on the fun with a round of corn hole!

The reception site was decorated to perfection!

Carrie and Erik's first dance had every eye on this sweet couple.

A toast...to the bride and groom!

The band lit up the dance floor! The atmosphere here was so fun!

At the end of the night, Carrie and Erik had their grand exit to glow sticks in lieu of the traditional sparklers or bubbles. It was a fun and colorful way to finish out an exciting and wonderful day!

Many congratulations to the couple!

Amy and Kevin may have the three cutest kids on the planet! When Amy called me to set up their family session, she mentioned that she wasn't the only one excited about getting their photos taken. She said one of her daughters looks at the Millie Holloman Photography blog often and thinks that famous people are featured on there and that we (the photographers) are famous as well. I guess that means this family has made it in show business since they are on the blog! ;)
We met in Winston Salem, North Carolina, at the beautiful Graylyn Mansion. Amy's vision of the estate grounds paired with furs and jewels was a wonderful inspiration that made this family shoot really special. The other thing that made it special was the way they interact with each other. The kids (Caroline, Ella and Thomas) are sweet as pie. I could tell they are a very close-knit family! |

Kevin mentioned he could pick Thomas up with his hand. I didn't know exactly what he meant until Thomas was in the air! Thomas, the stuntman, has the cutest dimples ever!

What's even more inspiring than seeing an engaged couple in love for a photo shoot? A married couple with kids who are STILL in love. Amy and Kevin are a gorgeous couple, aren't they?

Amy had one request of a few images lying on the ground. These are some of my favorite from the session. They are so intimate and happy!

Thank you so much Amy, Kevin, Caroline, Ella, and Thomas! I had a fantastic, fun time with each one of you and I hope you love these images as much as I do!
