04.07.10 ~ Engagement ~ posted by Millie

From the second I spotted Aileen & Keith from a full block away in Downtown Wilmington I knew I was going to love them. If how adorably they were dressed was any indication of how our shoot would turn out, paired with the sentimental emails we had shared there was no way this shoot wouldn't grace my favorites from this year. Immediately we hit it off when I presented Aileen with her fresh bouquet for the shoot and we started our journey down the waterfront. Why a bouquet you ask? The answer is simple. Fresh flowers were listed as on of Aileen's favorite things. Additionally, I asked Keith to bring a jacket along because I learned that on their first date he did just that in case Aileen should get cold. Amongst our other plans, sushi and ice cream... again more favorites! Plus Keith said he needed a break of the pre-wedding slim down and this was a good out!

Aileen & Keith, I totally fell in love with both of you, your sweet laughter, emotional moments, and amazing hearts are going to make your wedding day fantastic. I can feel it! Can't wait to meet you on Bald Head Island this coming May!

Renee also came along with me on this shoot... I've posted a couple of her shots in this post, this is one of them!

LOVE!

04.05.10 ~ Weddings ~ posted by Millie

I photographed a bridal the week before last that I am dying to show you all of my favorite images, but I can't just yet. I have to wait until after the wedding so we don't release any secrets to those attending the wedding or to the groom of course. However, I did get clearance from the bride to post these. Stay tuned the second week of May for more images from this session!

meet renee [our new intern]

04.02.10 ~ Updates ~ posted by Millie

I've been tweeting and blogging Renee's name often the last few weeks. She is my sidekick right now while interning for school credit. Both myself and the staff at MHP have enjoyed having her around. The office staff lovingly refer to her as "intern" instead of calling her by name but that's just their way of showing love around here. She'll be around for the next 5 weeks (she's already been here 3 weeks). School requires her to work a total of 40 hours a week for 8 weeks but we are thinking about holding her ransom and not letting her go. We just like her way too much!

Just last week one of our bridals (which we can't blog until May) required the use of some gigantor balloons. While we were blowing them up and waiting for our bride to arrive Renee and I grabbed some test shots of her and I thought this would be the perfect time to introduce her to you. So meet Renee and if you want daily updates on what she's up to here at MHP you can follow her on twitter!

spring has sprung

03.30.10 ~ Updates, Life ~ posted by Millie

I realize that we've been posting a lot on the blog but it's been a while since I've shown up here to fill you in on life. I've had a lot of heartfelt posts I've considered making here lately but I'm also trying to continue to balance my life as things get a little busier and we head into one of the busiest season we've ever experienced here at MHP. Those thoughts will make their way onto this blog soon enough, you can be sure of that!

I thought I would drop by and give you all another peek into studio life. We've been hard at work over here sprucing up and making it feel like spring while we are working. If you have to sit at a desk for a good portion of the day then you should enjoy every moment of it while life is buzzing by just outside the window. Just today I visited a nursery right around the corner from me, The Transplanted Garden, what a glorious place! If you've never seen it then you must go by, I'll be taking Amanda to introduce her to it's wonderfulness soon. Renee (our new intern, who you'll meet soon... maybe this week!) went in with me and I think it's safe to say we walked away with more than I bargained for. However, I'm feeling very inspired these days... spring has sprung!

What have you done lately to make your work place a fun place to be? Here is a look into the little environment we have created for ourselves here at MHP...

Our little herb garden complete with basil, oregano, cilantro & rosemary...

the cilantro will be used in the fresh salsa we love to make over lunch!

Yesterday while I was in Raleigh, I found these adorable plants at Anthropologie and just had to have them... look at how cute the moss covered pots are!

That dried lavender smells as good as it looks! MMMMMMM!

Thanks to Richard over at Image Finishers who recently sent Amanda back to the studio with some amazing old cameras, guides, bulbs, and flashes he had saved over the years. I am in love with them all and we've enjoyed tying them into our little studio.

These little topiary's might be my new favorite... but they come in second to my new kumquat tree which you see in the first shot!

I can't show you the studio and not post the hall bathroom, it's one of my favorite places in the house. I'm not sure if that's because it's the only completely finished room or if it's just that cute!

So let us know... what do you think? What amazing things are we missing? What MUST we add to the mix?
