The guys at Flower & Flour are amongst the "best in the business"! Seriously, where else can you get cakes like this with such attention to detail, a taste of delicious and all the giggles you need in one place?! Bryan & David know how to light up a room, seriously we just can't get enough of these guys... they are always making us laugh.
When they called and asked me to come photograph their newly remodeled space I knew I was in for a treat. I headed down to Carolina Beach, NC where this amazing shop is located and these two delivered. I captured their adorable show room, tasting area, and kitchen and they sent me home with the most delicious macaroons ever. It was a win win!
Just take a peek at what they've done and we know you'll think it's delicious! |

The flower hanging on the wall to the right are all made of sugar... amazing!

Look at how adorable they have made cake decor and letter selection... makes me want to design a cake right now!

What are you waiting for? Head down to Flower & Flour now! On second though maybe you should call first but I know these two will be waiting for you and they have a lot more than cakes too... their cookies have got to be the cutest and most well dressed cookies I've ever eaten. Try one for yourself!

Sarah & Shawn booked the TruthBooth for their wedding reception and I've never seen the TruthBooth stay as packed during a reception as this one is. It was awesome! Brent & Amanda ran the booth so of course they also had to jump in and goof around a little... these first two shots are of them getting warmed up!

If you recognize these two, it's because Millie photographed their wedding last year. It is always fun to see our bride and grooms at their friends weddings!

This one cracks me up... the guy on the right is just hilarious!

A huge thanks to a VERY special person (you know who you are) that let us borrow their family heirloom accordion (which I like to call squeeze box) which we pulled out just for the bride and groom!

LOVE the perspective of this shot... fun!

This group knows how to pack out a TruthBooth for sure... record number of people piling in and there were even more than this at one point!

It isn't every day that I get to shoot for a couple as happy, grateful and just plain amazing as Shawn & Sarah. I seriously love these two. They've got me all giddy about my 2010 couples. If all of them are 1/2 as sweet, loving, and grateful as these two, then I am in for a fabulous year!
I knew I was going to have a grand time when I started hearing the details about this wedding over a month in advance. Nothing makes me quite as excited as hearing a bride that wants to do something new and different on her big day, and that she's hired the A team to pull it off. We worked with an all-star cast of wedding professionals for this wedding. Such an important part of getting me pumped for the wedding was knowing such fabulous people were involved, raising the bar as always, and I was going to have to up my game and deliver for sure!
I met up with Sarah at City Club where she was getting ready upstairs with all of her girls! |

I brought along some mustaches on a stick to add in a little humor throughout the day along with some stick on 'staches... they were a blast!

Sarah wanted to watch each of the guest arriving at St. Thomas for her ceremony. She and her Dad waited patiently by the window in the City Club while she noted each guest entering getting more and more excited with each name she called out. I loved this moment!

A little finishing touch from the bridesmaids and friends...

Rachel second shot this wedding with me so while I was hanging out with the girls, she pulled out the stick-on mustaches and had some fun with the guys...

Our favorite wedding coordinator around actually snuck into this shot (which she'll probably shoot me for posting later) but I just have to. It's the perfect moment for me. We lovingly refer to her as "Mama Jane" because she's the kind of person you need right beside you on your wedding day when your Mom needs to be tending to other things. Mama Jane is always there every step of the way with the most calming voice you've ever heard. You can believe if there is a single problem, she'll fix it with the most tender and sweet voice, assuring you that the day is all about you so go ahead and do your thing! I love how Sarah snuck a peek of me snapping this shot while her Dad is focused on her and Mama Jane is working on making the veil just right....

...and all of the guests are watching Sarah & her Dad!

I've never seen St. Thomas Preservation Hall more beautiful- and wait until you see them flip it for the reception in just one hour. You won't believe the difference!

Steve at High Performance Lighting accented the altar with an amazing chandelier! I always love it when brides hire Steve to add amazing lighting, it makes a world of difference in the aesthetic and the photography!

I was worried at first about how close the wedding was to sunset but it could not have been better. When the doors to the church swung open, and the beautiful light poured in I knew the next 20 minutes was going to be heaven and I would have to move fast to get it all before we lost the little light we had.

A quick stop at a fun location on our walk down to the waterfront!

These guys and girls to the left of the bar enjoyed congratulating the couple while I snuck a quick shot... I love this one! Then we continued towards the water!

Rachel pulled the tilt shift lens out for some shots... I love the tilt in this shot!

This might be one of my favorite images from the wedding, but I have several so I won't decide just yet. I loved all of the background color so I whisked them over and even though our light was getting really dim outside, we were able to make it work!

Once the light dropped we searched a bit more for available light in the area that we could shoot with. As soon as I saw this spotlight I had to give it a try!

While Sarah & Shawn enjoyed some alone time I returned to St. Thomas where I found an entirely different room. The light pouring through the stain glass and the up lights are once again the work of Steve Peterson. I LOVE how the lighting dresses up St. Thomas! Salt Harbor did an amazing job not only flipping the room VERY quickly but executing a stunning design! I told you that Sarah hired the A team... the rentals are from Party Suppliers, we love the girls over there, they are so much fun to work with and they are so dependable!

South 'n France are only the best bon bons in the world but they were also the biggest draw and the most raved about dessert at this wedding! Check out this tower of bon bons they made and if that isn't enough- there were two! I don't think a single bon bon was left on the towers by the end of the evening.
I also loved that Sarah didn't have a traditional wedding cake but instead had her grandmother bake her favorite childhood cake, red velvet! This was the cake they cut and fed to one another. |

Sean added a little humor to the cake cutting...

Jason Tatum from Active Entertainment kept the party hopping all night long while Rachel and I were snapping away on the dance floor! Jason is an amazing wedding DJ, the best!

A sparkler exit to end the evening!

Sarah & Shawn - when I said you two were an amazing couple, I meant every word of it! I really enjoyed my time working with you and I'm hoping to see a lot more of you at PC3 in the near future. I also have your TruthBooth photos coming soon- so stay tuned!

After over a year and half of work on the Get It Together Kit, it is finally here! Today our pre-orders begin and the Kit will ship in Mid April!
This project has been a labor of love for me. I realize that not every photographer has as much love for the "business side" of photography as I do, I probably love it as much as I do shooting. I've taught countless workshops, one-2-one sessions and listened for years to my photography friends talk about how difficult it can be to really get organized in their business. I've shared my systems with friends and workshop attendees for years so I know they work, these are systems we use in our own studio every day.
The truth is that no one told you when you decided to be a photographer it was 80% business and 20% shooting. Most photographers that don't survive in this industry fail because they have no business sense, clear communication, organization and systems. This kit covers it all!
I just returned from selling the kit at WPPI, we were on the trade show floor in booth #1158. To celebrate the launch of the kit and our success at WPPI we are offering a discount when you order the kit and use the code "WPPI2010" while checking out to get $35.00 off. This basically give you $20.00 of your pre-order of the kit and free shipping & handling. Go now, the discount code has already been extended and will only be live until THIS MONDAY NIGHT AT MIDNIGHT!
HEAD OVER TO OUR WEBSITE NOW TO ORDER!
PLEASE NOTE: The kit you see pictured on this site is a proof. We are making some adjustments to enhance the final printing so you may see a change in the cover or added materials. This is a pre-order as the final Get It Together Kit will ship in mid April 2010.
For those of you who had trouble ordering internationally, the problem has been fixed and we can now take international orders! Just email us if you have any problems and we'll make sure you get the kit. |

Sarah's bridals are some of my favorite to date. When I heard that her wedding had a burlesque feel I knew we had to do something new and different for her bridals. I've been waiting to share there with you so I'm glad I finally can. Sarah & Shawn were married this past weekend so it's now safe to put them on the world wide web! We worked out a special location for this session, the first images was displayed at the reception for the guests to see!

Once we finished shooting inside, Sarah wanted to head downtown for a few shots so we could display a bridal at the City Club during the Cocktail hour. The images were taken at and around the City Club!

This is the bridal that was printed on canvas and displayed during the cocktail hour... I love this shot of Sarah, just beautiful!
