Laura and Paul got married in Wilmington, NC on an absolutely gorgeous day!

I love the getting ready part of the day. There's so much anticipation, lots of friends, and laughter. Laura's bridesmaids were amazing - helping with makeup, hair, packing things she needed for the day, and for the honeymoon.

Paul waited patiently to see Laura for the first time that day. Oh, and that American flag on the inside of his jacket? That's because he is in the foreign service. How cool is that? He and Laura spent the last year in Ghana, and will be leaving for South Africa very soon!

I do love it when couples choose to have a first look before the ceremony!

And so do they! This is maybe my favorite reaction of the whole day.

Laura and Paul brought these fans from Ghana for their guests to enjoy. I love the bright colors!

Airlie Gardens provided a beautiful backdrop for the ceremony. Love those aisle markers and all of the beautiful touches not this wedding by Salt Harbor Designs!

Everyone waiting for the walk down the aisle. I love the anticipation of moments like these.

The beautiful bride and her parents.

It's not often that you see all the parents standing up front with the bride and groom. I loved how the families showed their love and their support for Laura and Paul's marriage in this simple act.

Laura and Paul's bridal party was awesome - fun, happy, and helpful to the two of them all day.

Polka dot ties are awesome.

Did I mention that they were fun?

The reception was set up on the big oak lawn, and it was absolutely beautiful.

I loved the New Yorker covers as table markers.

Such a gorgeous reception. Long tables are my favorite.

The dinner was provided by A Southern Thyme and it was nothing short of amazing.

Laura and Paul's guests loved to dance, and the floor was hopping all night!

Laura and Paul, thanks for letting me be a part of your big day! Wishing you all the best in your marriage and your upcoming travels!

Did you hear? Knox turned one!
I was so excited to get the chance to photograph Knox's first birthday party. I knew that his mom, Dina, would have cooked up something absolutely amazing, and I was right! The superhero theme was just perfect for a little boy's birthday party. |

Isn't he the most precious thing ever? I love the t-shirt and the superhero cape, but Dina left nothing untouched - even adorning her kitchen island with a city skyline.

Every little one invited to the party had their own little superhero shirt to wear for the day.

Just a few of the details...

And what is a birthday party without cake?

First birthday parties are the best. The kids play, the moms and dads talk, and everyone has a great time!

All of the kids at this party were super cute!

I can't believe we managed to get all the super kids lined up in front of the city, but somehow we did!
Happy Birthday, Knox! And many more! |

I recently got to travel to the beautiful mountains of NC to a little town called Sapphire to meet up with Whitney and Kent for their engagement session. It was an absolutely gorgeous day - bright blue skies, and just the beginning of the leaves turning color.
They met at a Duke Athletics function one night... she was the event planner, and he was attending. They spoke for a while, and the next day Whitney heard from the Duke football coach. He wanted her phone number, which he then passed on to Kent. And, as they say, the rest is history. |

This spot is the cutest little camp ever, and was the summer playground for Whitney for years while she was a kid. Kent has adopted this place as his own, too, and now they make trips up there a few times a year together.

They are the sweetest couple, so cute together and undeniably in love. My favorite kind.

Whitney is something of a canoeing expert, and Kent is learning quickly. But whether they're going in a straight line or around in circles, they are always smiling and laughing.

I loved these paddles - Whitney told me that each camper gets to decorate one when they're at camp... what a fun idea!

I absolutely love this shot - Whitney stayed in this cabin one summer when she was a camper, so it's sentimental. But what I adore even more is the look of pure joy on Whitney's face. She lights up like this every time she looks at Kent.
Whitney and Kent, thanks for spending the afternoon with me. I can't wait for your wedding! |
