rebecca + joel + baby on the way . wilmington, nc

Rebecca is one of our photographers for MHP and she's expecting! She and Joel will welcome their first child into the world at the end of this month. I'm always excited for new and expectant parents and I'm SUPER excited for these two... when Rebecca called me earlier this year to tell me the news I was grinning from ear to ear for them both. I know they are going to make fabulous parent because they already make a great aunt and uncle and if that's any indication, this baby is in for lots of love!
I asked Rebecca about a month and a half ago if she wanted me to shoot her maternity session and we instantly put our schedules together to find a date. We just could not find a date that worked for both of us between my travels, Joel starting law school and Rebecca putting all of her efforts and energies into getting ready for their little girl. So just a couple of weeks ago it happened, an impromptu photo session on their way through town for a little family vacation. We started out at the Sonic drive in because Rebecca's biggest craving with this pregnancy has been anything cold to drink! What a better place for a slushie than the home of the slushie itself, Sonic!
Also as a side note: I photographed Rebecca & Joel's wedding a few years ago, so it was really fun to get to work with them again and watch this progression of them growing their own little family. I can't wait to meet baby girl! |

Once we finished shooting at the Sonic we headed downtown and hit a rooftop for a new spin on the session. I grabbed my old mannequin to add a little interest and I'm loving how these turned out!

southern weddings girls . wilmington, nc

When the girls over at Southern Weddings Magazine asked Jennifer of Salt Harbor and myself to collaborate on images of them for their next magazine (V3) we were thrilled! We spent hours chatting and having phone calls with the ladies at Southern Weddings to get their personalities paired just right for each shot, then we were off to prop and location hunt which turned out to be LOADS of fun, then it was time to execute!
We ended up spending the entire day with these gals shooting, changing wardrobe, discovering new locations and of course giggling a lot! A huge thanks to Salt Harbor for the styling and florals!
Also hugs and kisses to Jill at The Balcony for letting us use the Roudabush room for most of the afternoon and to Lindsey Cheek for letting us completely rearrange her house and porch for a few shots. Additionally, we shot in my kitchen so thanks to my cleaning lady, Renee, for cleaning up all that flour. heehee
Lara loves cherries so we had an entire basket of Rainier cherries just for her! |

Katherine loves a traditional style and they also told me she loves her boots!

Don't you wish this was your office? AMAZING!

I'm not sure if I grabbed this shot or if Brent did. I rattled off a few then had to have a bit of help in the "height" department... I could't get quite high enough!

Emily also loves welli's so we paired them with pinwheels... what's better than that?!

And there is Katharine... our candy girl! These shots had us all laughing!

letterpress, world traveler, and silver... fits each of them to a T!

A bazillion paper bow ties all hand made by Salt Harbor!

Something tells me you might find some information on where to get these little beauties in V3 so pick it up as soon as it hits the shelves this Fall! LOVE THEM!

Again... a special thanks to Brent who actually used his go-go-gadget hands to grab these shots from above!

cheyenne + geoff + baby on the way . charlotte, nc

Cheyenne and Geoff are the photographers responsible for the stunning work over at The Schultzes here in Charlotte, North Carolina. It was an honor to do their baby bump photos! When Cheyenne and I were talking about what to do for their session, she only had one request. They wanted a photo in front of this wall. I was thrilled to oblige - it's a new favorite corner in Charlotte!

After just a few shots in the area, we went to another gorgeous spot. Cheyenne and Geoff were looking for something simple and beautiful. This enchanted forest in the middle of the city was the perfect backdrop and was also SHADED in this hot hot weather.

Cheyenne has only had a few cravings during her pregnancy. One of them? Cherries.

As soon as the cherries came out, Geoff's personality came out as well! I love this next series.

This simple and sweet photo could be one of my favorites of the day. Genuine smiles make me so happy!

Cheyenne and Geoff are seriously a hot couple! I have never seen Cheyenne look more beautiful, thanks to the flawless work of Kymm McClean at Who's The Fairest.

I might be in love with this wall. Cheyenne and Geoff look like two beautiful additions to the mural.

Cheyenne and Geoff, it was SO GREAT to get to know you both a little better. Congratulations on your new addition!

candice + dan + baby on the way . charlotte, nc

Candice and Dan are the bomb photographers from The Beautiful Mess in Charlotte, North Carolina. They are rock stars, lovebirds, and having a baby!!!
It is always an honor to photograph other photographers, but it can also be sometimes nerve-wracking. Candice and Dan were so so sweet, though. They gave me complete artistic freedom to do what I wanted, so I pulled out a few ideas I have been wanting to try for quite some time. The first is this scene of clothes hanging out to dry. I love the romantic feel and all that color! |

We both brought linens and quilts for the shoot, but this colorful patchwork quilt is one of Candice and Dan's. I am in LOVE with this thing!

If you know Candice and Dan at all, you'll know they have a healthy obsession with shoes. The 80's are back, baby!

While the first location we chose was a bit more of my personality, I chose the second location to fit Candice and Dan's. Every part of this part of the shoot makes me happy inside. Kind of like the little baby inside of Candice makes her and hubby Dan happy. :)

Candice and Dan are not only rock stars, they are having a rock star baby. Her name is Stevie Ann and her nursery is decorated in these mini records. Can you guess which artist Stevie is named after?

Isn't Candice gorgeous? She's a natural beauty and was enhanced even further that day by the very talented Kymm McClean of Who's The Fairest with hair and makeup.

I showed this shot to Candice and Dan just days after their session. I couldn't help myself! I love the simplicity, the symmetry, and statement that this image makes. The arrow is kind of amazing as well.

One last note on Candice and Dan...who is cool enough to do this while pregnant? Seriously. SERiously. Guys, you were so great to work with! I loved every minute of my time with you both and can't wait to meet baby Stevie!

Jennifer is a friend of mine, we are actually in the same small group at church, so we see one another on a weekly basis most of the time. I was super excited when she asked me if she could book a session with her and her Dad. She needed some headshots for work (she owns a business consulting firm) and she also wanted to capture some special shots of her and her Dad (I loved this idea). I thought long and hard about the location and ended up choosing a dock on the intracoastal waterway. Just look at how happy Jen & her Dad are... I love these people!

Now time for a little action with just Jen!

Jen - it was so great to work with you and your Dad. I really had a great time and finally getting to meet your Dad was a real treat... what a great guy, what fun!
