09.07.10 ~ Engagement ~ posted by Millie

In addition to photographing Matt & Ashley in the cherries & polaroids theme as seen a few posts down, I also took them out to a local produce stand to grab some images for the Balcony as they have recently moved towards a menu of "fresh and local home grown food" and we wanted to depict this through the open house. We actually had about 20 minutes to grab these because the produce stand was about to close when we arrived. FASTEST. SESSION. EVER.

09.07.10 ~ Engagement ~ posted by Rachel

When Kara wrote me an email explaining the concept for her engagement shoot, my jaw hit the floor. There was so much thought and detail poured into every corner of it that relayed their personalities and love story. While this is just a story, all the major facts in it are absolutely true. It goes something like this:

Meet Kara. She's a florist, loves everything vintage and is of a proud Dutch heritage. While working on a particularly slow day at the Bloeman Staan (Dutch for Flower Stand), a handsome gentleman named Chris stopped by. It was love at first site!

Every day spent with each other was bliss. It didn't really matter what they were doing. Whether it be working at the flower shop together...

...or having a casual lunch, every moment was a happy one.

Chris and Kara loved to send little hints to each other, whether it be in the form of a crafted gift...

...or a vintage heirloom. (This REALLY is a vintage ring from Chris's family!)

One day, Chris surprised Kara with a lovely gift. It was a sweet message and Kara could not resist the mystery.

"Meet Me At The Boat", it said. But why? What could Kara's love have planned?

Chris had prepared a lovely and romantic evening filled with candle light and champagne bubbles under a canopied rowboat he had constructed himself.

When Kara arrived, she was blown away with Chris's romantic gesture. Ahhh, love!

...and they lived happily ever after. Findas Ende (The End in German)

OK so I'm not a great story teller. haha But isn't Kara and Chris's love story so sweet and romantic? Speaking of sweet, these vintage hammered sppons are just a sneak peek of what's in store for their wedding decor. LOVE!!!

Kara looks so beautiful and genuinely happy here!

Kara and Chris, I am so very excited to see what your creative minds have come up with for your wedding. Congrats and I will see you very soon!

08.18.10 ~ Engagement ~ posted by Rebecca

When I started emailing with Kashia about her engagement session with Steven, I knew instantly it was going to be a fun one! They are such a fun and unique couple. Kashia is quite a foodie, and she has just entered the foreign service as a diplomat! Steven is a computer programmer, loves video games, and is soon to be a professor!

They love to have fun together, and what better place to have fun than Frankie's Fun Park - complete with arcade, laser tag, mini golf, climbing gyms, and go karts!

Air hockey and ski-ball... it takes me back to being a kid. I love that Kashia and Steven like to act like kids together.

Steven told us that he has always wanted to climb to the top of this jungle gym thing. It's like 2.5 stories tall of spiderweb-y levels... They didn't go all the way to the top, but he did convince Kashia to go with him for a few levels...

The staff at Frankie's was nice enough to let us borrow this little guy for a quick shot. It fit perfectly with Kashia and Steven's t-shirts, don't you think?

After hanging out inside for a while, we headed out to the mini-golf course for a few minutes. I told you they love to laugh together!

So sweet!

And so silly!

When Steven proposed, Kashia took pictures of her ring on ring-pops and sent out a shot to their friends and family to announce their engagement. I loved the idea, so I thought I'd do a little tribute to their candy-ring shot. I couldn't find ring-pops anywhere, but lifesavers seemed a good substitute!

Kashia mentioned that she and Steven love Krispy Kreme, so I knew we had to shoot there. Apparently, Krispy Kreme used to give out free donuts when the "Hot Now" sign was on... but not anymore. Oh well, we enjoyed some donuts and some fun anyway! This series really shows off their silly side...

A few more shots outside in the last bit of light....

...and we just had to include the famous sign!

Kashia and Steven, thank you for spending the evening with me! I had a blast getting to know you and see you being silly together! Good luck in all the new adventures you're about to have!

08.18.10 ~ Engagement ~ posted by Brent & Amanda

Katherine and Chris are a lovely couple who reside here in Wilmington, NC. When I originally chatted with Katherine, she and Chris weren't too interested in the engagement session and we going to pass. I told her the importance of the session and how it helps all of us get to know one another and so they decided to take advantage of it. I am so glad they did!

Brent and I met up with them at their home right off the marsh/sound area in Wilmington. Everything was gorgeous and so peaceful! How amazing to wake up with a view of the water, lush green reeds and big trees that hang with ancient moss. It was the perfect place for pictures. The perfect place for them.

While shooting we all chatted and started to get to know one another. Chris was cracking jokes and keeping me on my toes. Katherine was very sweet and full of excitement. All in all, it was a wonderful evening making new friends.

I love the way Chris holds Katherine. So cozy!

This is just a snippet of the glorious view that Katherine and Chris enjoy.

Not only do Katherine and Chris have a wonderful view, but they have a lovely home as well. We thought it would be great to use the space they enjoy sharing and spending time together.

Love!

I <3 sweet moments between people!

Katherine and Chris, thanking you for sharing you home, your lives and your love! We had so much fun and can't wait to post your wedding soon!

08.13.10 ~ Engagement ~ posted by Brent & Amanda

Ever meet someone and you instantly like who they are? Bridger and Nick fit this bill for sure! While Brent and I were taking some time away on Bald Head Island, we scheduled for Bridger and Nick to come over for their engagement session. I was so thrilled to meet them and we had the best time hanging out, laughing and just getting to know one another.

Bridger and Nick met on the shores of Wrightsville Beach, where one little question sparked their relationship, "Do you want to meet my dog bear?" Who knew that a fluffy pup and a sweet smile would carry these two to this moment! Both Bridger and Nick love the outdoors, good music and big dose of laughter. Seeing their love for one another and the excitement in their eyes is refreshing. Makes me want to squeeze my hubby a little tighter too!

When Brent and I greeted Bridger and Nick at the ferry landing we were greeted with full smiles and warm hugs. We hopped in the golf cart (no cars on the island) and wasted no time. Since Bridger and Nick both adore the water and it is where their love began, we figured it was only natural to start on the shoreline.

Sweet smiles.

Love the series of tilt shots Brent grabbed. So fun!

There is adventure in everything, and sharing it with the one you love is even better.

While on the beach we saw this sign and just had to use it! Don't worry folks, no clothes were casted off during the making of this photo.

Bridger and Nick may have met on the beach, but their love has carried them away to mountains of Asheville, NC where they reside. And one of the great things about Bald Head is that it offers the beach and the natural woods. It was perfect.

Sometimes we like to make our clients "work" for their pictures. This time we thought it would be fun to go on a little bike ride on the island. I think they are having a good time!

A quick pause...

...then back on the road!

We ended the session with some time hanging out on the dock on the sound side. It was so peaceful and serene and I could have stayed there all evening.

Love this moment.

Love Bridger's hat!

Bridger and Nick, thanks for being flexible, risking/dodging thunderstorms and being such great people! Brent and I had a blast and we are looking forward to the wedding!
