We’re based all over North Carolina (Wilmington, Raleigh, & Charlotte), but we work all over the world. What do we shoot? In one word: Love. Wedding Love. Baby Love. Family Love. Love of details. Love of design. Love of nature. And this blog? Well, it showcases the images, the people, and the stuff we want to share, both professionally and personally. So what are you waiting for? Come on in and look around.
We want you to get the most out of your time here, so here are a few helpful tips: Check out the text block above that says: “photographers”. Use it to get to know just one photographer better by sorting just their images, twitter updates or bio. Wondering who shot what? Look for the signature on the bottom left of each photograph. I should probably write and launch this blog post before next year's Haven comes out. (It's been sitting on the back end of my blog for a while waiting for me to take a second to write and release).
Tomorrow (MONDAY) we'll be migrating to a new blog with our brand spanking new and super fun look. You won't even recognize it and lots of things will be changing to make the blog and our website site a better and more enjoyable experience. This has been over a year in the making (it takes time to make things just right). Enough about the rebrand for now, we have a new MHP twitter account you can follow for updates on that and the next time you see a blog post here it will be with the new link and announcement so look for that tommorrow!
Last year Brent, Amanda and I headed off to Bald Head on assignment for an article on paddle boarding in the 2011 Haven. Little did we know we would also get the cover shot on this assignment. Brent and I headed into the ocean with underwater housing for our cameras and shot into the sunset. It was such a fun experience and this year's Haven features our shots on the front and back cover! |

While shooting our Family Vacation Article for the very same issue, Amanda grabbed this awesome shot of our sweet nephew Gavin which became the cover for the 2011 Bald Head Island Armchair Guide. Love!
You can see and read the entire Haven online (including the full paddle boarding article) here! |

This year while traveling to Bald Head for a 2012 Haven assignment I spotted a full rack in the ferry terminal and grabbed some iPhone shots. It's so fun to see your work in print, especially in stacks of magazines!

Freedom House Church celebrated its groundbreaking ceremony a few Sundays ago and I was so excited to photograph the over-the-top event! Instead of a quick ceremonial shovel in the ground and a few courtesy claps, they rocked the day with a carnival theme, a larger than life fork lift and streaming confetti!
This was the first time since I have been attending Freedom House that the entire church body was able to meet at one time for a service. We usually meet in a local school like so many other churches in North Carolina. Having our very own building is such a huge step and I couldn't be prouder to be a part of this great time in the church's history. |

Most of the set-up crew started their day at 5:45AM, making sure every detail was perfect. I hear Pastor Penny all the time on Twitter saying how we have the best volunteers and that day I believed her!

One of my favorite parts of the day was the cheering squad (aka greeters) who clapped, high-fived and welcomed every guest. What a way to bring the energy up in the tent!

Each kid was given a shovel when they arrived. it was so cute seeing their eyes light up as they realized they would have something to play with during service. :)

Our awesome worship team kicked off the morning.

A few local dignitaries spoke on how this church has and will continue to impact the Charlotte area. This was the point where everything started to sink in for me. This building is going to happen!

Near the end of the service, Pastor Troy and Penny stepped into the fork lift and made the first dig. I was super impressed with Pastor Penny in her high heels stepping into that beast!

Immediately following the dig, confetti blasted and the crowd exploded with enthusiasm!!

After the service, the church was treated to a family fun day, including Rita's Italian Ice, pizza, face painting, horse rides and much much more! It was such a fun day to spend with the FHC family!!

Congratulations to the people of Freedom House Church! I can't wait to see the building in it's completion!

It was such an honor to photograph Ghana Rock, a benefit concert to support The Father's House Ghana. The concert was conceived and directed by 17 year old Madi Vincent, along with the help of a group of eight other young adults as well as countless volunteers on the night of this mega event in Charlotte, North Carolina. I remember Madi talking to me about the concert with such excitement way back in January when she was my roommate in Ghana. It was so cool to see the whole event actually happen!
None of this would have been possible without the amazing ground laying work of Matt and Tammy Garrett, who are the co-founders of The Father's House Ghana along with Jeff and Lori Millier. For those of you not familiar with the organization, please take the time to read about my trip to Ghana, Africa, and how it changed my life here, here, here, and here. Or you can go right to The Father's House Ghana website!
The night featured three amazing Christian artists/groups. The Georgia-based worship band Unhindered was up first. They were the perfect opening act for this talent-filled night and really got the crowd going! |

Up next was Josh Wilson. He is a seriously talented dude. I loved the fact that he was a one man band, making loops right there in front of the audience. He also sang songs to his wife, which made me like him even more! I love his single, "I Refuse". The lyrics remind me so much of the vision of The Father's House Ghana!

Madi sending everyone out to intermission was so so cute on her tippy toes.

The night ended with Kristian Stanfill. Halfway through their set, I realized I had been singing along. I didn't have their CD, but their music is everywhere! One of my favorites of theirs is Day After Day. Love that song.

Matt Garrett with his hands raised. LOVE this shot.

During the night, there was a call to the audience to give financial support to the Father's House. After all, that was the whole point of the concert! The audience responded with generosity. So much so, that it brought some of the volunteers to tears. I love this shot of these three sweet girls celebrating what God had done. Remember the girl on the right? Yup that's Kayla, a senior in high school who just had her senior session with me recently!

Congratulations to The Father's House Ghana for such a successful event! And just a quick note to the Ghana Rock team: You guys rocked the house! Thanks for making the evening such a huge success for the Father's House Ghana!

We’re a loud, on the go, competitive, loud bunch. Yes, I mentioned loud twice, because it bears repeating. But we are also family and spending time together is something we hold near and dear to our hearts.
Several years ago at Christmas, we were all sitting around chatting about the importance of seeing one another more than during the Holidays. For us, that just wasn’t enough so we started planning to change that.
The next year we spent a week at Bald Head Island and fell in love.
So when the opportunity to visit Bald Head came up again, we took it without hesitation. But this time, we would be followed by a couple of writers, Jason and Lauren Frye who work for Bald Head Island’s magazine, Haven. They also asked us to document the entire vacation as it unfolded everyday using our cameras.
One of my favorite parts about Bald Head and being with family is that you can never be bored. Whether going for a bike ride, venturing out on a nature trail, or sun bathing at the beach there is always something to do!
|

This year we stayed on the marsh side of the island where we had a dock that led straight out to the water. We took advantage of kayaking, canoeing, and paddle boarding all week long!

Throughout the week, each Holloman grouping chose a night to cook dinner. When you are cooking for 15 people it’s a big undertaking! And after dinner, just like clock work, teams were formed for a serious game of spades.

During the day we would visit the beach, play games at the pool, do a puzzle or enjoy a nap. Basically, we did whatever we wanted!

For a family vacation, we stayed super busy. I might have even needed a vacation from my vacation in the end! But no matter the case, it was a great week shared with some of my favorite people. You can read the whole story by Lauren Frye for yourself, just click here and look for page 28!

It's always a pleasure to work with the amazing staff over at Freedom House Church! Each year, they do a photo shoot all together to update their website and to have a bit of fun together as a group. I thought we were going to get rained out this year, but the rain didn't come until an hour after we finished. Yay! All you photographers out there know that made for beautiful light in each and every one of the images. Score! Each staff member got an individual shot for their bio on the website...

Aren't they a good looking bunch? The entire staff was great to work with, doing whatever I asked with a big smile! We picked the same location for the staff shoot as the pastoral family shoot taken in October to keep the website cohesive. It's a great location for a church wanting to reach the city!

Even when I asked everyone to step out onto the road for the last shot, there was no hesitation.

A huge thank you to the Freedom House Church staff for all making it out together for this shoot! It is an honor to serve this church.
