Meet the Bays kids. From left to right and from youngest to oldest, we have Cooper, Maddie and Chloe. These three adorable kids are full of energy and were fun fun fun to photograph! I met up with this amazingly cute bunch at their family's property on Lake Norman, a close drive from Charlotte, North Carolina. The property was beautiful, the kids were beautiful, and the light from the setting sun was...you guessed it! Beautiful!

We took turns capturing sweet photos for mom and fun photos for the kids. I love working this way, because it makes everyone happy in the end!

Maddie's adorable face makes me melt here. So sweet.

Tickling the one who won't smile (Chloe in this case) usually does the trick. :)

Lesley (mom) brought some super fun props for the kids to play with. They loved them of course.

FAVORITE shot of the day. Love.

At the very end of the shoot, the 3 little ones went out into the water for a quick dip. When they heard the word "splash" as I mentioned they could splash each other for a shot...

...it was all over. I had a fantastic time working with Chloe, Maddie and Cooper. Thank you Lesley, for the opportunity! Your kids are super cute and super fun!

I first met Bethany & Brett right before their wedding, I photographed the two of them early the week of their wedding and I remember having a great time shooting with them. They called recently to book a family session with their new addition to their family, Henry. I was super excited to get to work with them again! They were in town just a few weeks ago and we headed out on the beach to get some shots of the family all together including Henry's grandparents. Just look at this little guy! He's so cute I want to squeeze him and he's got quite the adorable personality to match!

I love this little expression...

When they pulled out Henry's little swimsuit and hat at the end of the session I nearly melted! How cute is this?

kids kamp 2010 . charlotte nc

07.27.10 ~ Life, Kids & Family, Documentary ~ posted by Rachel

Every year, the amazing staff and volunteers at Freedom House Church put together a FREE week long kids camp for the local community. It's an opportunity for children to learn about God while making friends, playing games, watching skits and singing songs. What a blast! This year's theme was High Seas Expedition and everything centered around water. I was able to attend the kickoff night as well as the finale, and both times I went home soaked!

At the beginning of every evening, all the kids gather in the auditorium. They really went all out this year with the decorations!

Some of the skits were serious...

...but most of them were very funny. I wonder who's job it was to clean up all that sun tan lotion afterwards.

*gasp*! :)

At the end of every night, there was someone there to present the message of God's love. Pastor Penny took the stage the first night. Throughout the week, there were over 500 decisions for Christ!!!

I LOVE it when kids lead worship.

Every day after the lesson, the kids would split up with their crew leaders to go to a game, a craft and a snack. Even food time was a time of learning! This pile of yummy treats was more than meets the eye to these kids. The graham crackers were the floor of a jail, the pretzels the bars, the marshmallow Paul. Eating the snack after putting it together was like freeing Paul from the jail. So creative, right?

You KNOW the kids loved the eating part!

The last night was a carnival of sorts. There were outdoor games, more free food and LOTS of water rides! Parents were invited to come that evening making it a packed house and a great time for families to bond.

The games' odds weren't stacked against them like most carnivals. Every kid was a winner!

One of the attractions was a dunking booth. The staff and some of the volunteers got dunked over and over again because the line was so long the entire evening! Seeing Pastor Troy get dunked was priceless.

Can you say "sugar high"? ;)

This is where I got soaked. In order to get the shot, I had to get in. Was it worth it? Absolutely!

Did I mention this kids camp was a HUGE event? Freedom House Church doesn't do things half way!

A HUGE thank you to all the volunteers and staff at Freedom House Church for offering something amazing like this to the community. You all rock the house! I can't wait for next year.

Alicia and Stephen are such a sweet couple. They found me through friends who we've photographed many times and I'm glad they did. Their first child is due very soon and rumor has it I'll be meeting them again when the little one arrives for another photo session. We met in Downtown Wilmington where I explained to Alicia & Stephen that I like to just walk around and see what "pops out at me" so that exactly what we did. For our first shot we lucked out and found the perfect little bike parked in an alley!

How beautiful are they together?! I know they are bound to have one adorable baby!

I think Stephen might think I was nuts when I was explaining this shot but maybe he'll think differently now! I like it!

A little fun looking around for a number that is their due date... we finally found it!

How stinking adorable is this little restaurant? When it cools off a little outside, I'm going back here to grab lunch!

Stephen & Alicia! Thanks so much for a fun session... I'm excited to meet you again when your little one arrives!

In this industry I get the chance to meet some really amazing people! Of course I love my clients, but in this case I'm talking about other weddings vendors. People I work with week after week who have the ability to make my day smooth and wonderful or the exact opposite. If you've read my blog for any length of time then there is no doubt you've heard me refer to "Mama Jane".

If you've ever met Jane then you know why we call here "Mama". She has that ability to bring calm to any storm and put a smile on anyone's face. She carries that motherly love and touch and it's seen in every wedding she coordinates. Since Mama Jane sends us many of her most loved brides, I offered to spend some time with her grandchild, Sarah Grace, to capture images that I knew Jane would treasure forever. Here is a peek of out little afternoon adventure at The Yacht Club on Wrightsville Beach.

You would never believe it was actually sprinkling throughout our entire session but Sarah Grace was still having a grand old time!

Look at those eyes!

Sarah Grace can get around really well now that she's walking! The sand was a little tough but she managed to show off her skills for the camera...

I just love those little hands digging through the sand!

And without further ado - although we had already reached Sarah Grace's picture meter she managed to get one more shot with Mimi who we lovingly refer to as "Mama Jane".

Mama Jane - I'm so grateful I was able to meet your family and spend such a fabulous evening dining and chatting with you all. I hope there will be many more nights like this in the future as the company, the food, and the conversation was just what I needed. Thanks again for a wonderful night and for making our job easier every single day!
