Hi there! Welcome to the Millie Holloman Photography blog. Our company has just one name, but we’re an entire team of crazy, creative, passionate, professional photographers. We’re based all over North Carolina (Wilmington, Raleigh, & Charlotte), but we work all over the world. What do we shoot? In one word: Love. Wedding Love. Baby Love. Family Love. Love of details. Love of design. Love of nature. And this blog? Well, it showcases the images, the people, and the stuff we want to share, both professionally and personally. So what are you waiting for? Come on in and look around.

We want you to get the most out of your time here, so here are a few helpful tips: Check out the text block above that says: “photographers”. Use it to get to know just one photographer better by sorting just their images, twitter updates or bio. Wondering who shot what? Look for the signature on the bottom left of each photograph. thanksgiving

11.29.10 ~ Life, Rebecca ~ posted by Rebecca

This year, Thanksgiving has more meaning than ever for me. This year has been full of change and new experiences, to say the least! There is always much to be thankful for, and I know I am blessed beyond measure. As I think through all the people and things I’ve been blessed with, there are a few that stick out.

If you’ve been following me on Twitter, you know that we just recently moved into a new house. It’s beautiful and amazing, and it’s in an awesome neighborhood with lots of families, and I am more than thankful to be here! I love it!

Joel and I are blessed with amazing families. Both families have been so supportive as we’ve adjusted to our new life as a family of three! They’ve come to spend time with us and Clara, and help us out around the house, sacrificing their time at home to do so (though I think if you asked them, they’d give up working to hang out with the little one anytime).

I love my job. I’m thankful to have a job at all right now. But to have one that I truly love and want to do is a gigantic blessing.

And perhaps the most obvious new blessing, our beautiful baby girl! Clara is such a great baby, as everyone continues to remind me. She is seriously fantastic, and it is amazing to watch her growing up. People tell you to enjoy every minute because it flies by, and they are really right. It’s true. Already my little Clara doesn’t look like a newborn anymore. At 9 weeks old, she is already getting her first tooth, pulling herself up to sitting when you hold her hands, and jabbering up a storm! I can’t believe it. I’m reminded every day what a wonderful, wondrous addition she is to our lives, and I’m trying to just soak in every minute.

I have a personal photo project I’m working on to try and document her first year. I’m taking at least one photo of Clara every day with my iphone and uploading it to Facebook. At the end of her first year, I’ll get them printed in a book. I know it’s not the same as my normal photos (I am taking those as well - you can see a few below), but that’s kind of how life is sometimes. Things happen on the run, and I want to document those moments too. So, if you’re interested in seeing those crazy, on-the-fly moments, you can follow me on twitter, or become my friend on Facebook.

And just so you can have a little glimpse of how my days are spent now, here are a couple of shots I took the other day. I get to play with this precious little one all day in between photoshoots. It doesn’t get much better. Seriously, I am one thankful mama.

thankful

11.24.10 ~ Updates, Life ~ posted by Rachel

It's easy to complain sometimes. You could have the greatest job in the world. You could be happily married, own the cutest puppy ever, go to a phenomenal church, live in a great neighborhood, have amazing friends...you get the picture...and still find a reason to complain. It's just so easy! It's much harder to remember to be thankful. Grateful. Humbled. Honored.

I was on the phone with a friend the other day, telling her how I was so ready for this wedding season to be over. All the travel, long hours and backaches from equipment were getting to me. "I just need a break!" I said, totally having a pity party with a guest list of one. In response, my friend said something along the lines of "Aw, poor baby. You have it so rough." She then proceeded to remind me of how many people would give their left arm for my job, how blessed I was to work for a company that allows me to be creative and shoot while they take care of editing and billing, how I was so excited when Millie hired me...you get the picture...yet I still find reason to complain about this blessed life. Check and mate.

Right then and there, I realized for the first time in a while. I have the greatest job in the world. I'm happily married. I own the cutest puppy ever, go to a phenomenal church, live in a great neighborhood and have amazing friends. I am thankful. I choose to be grateful, humbled, and honored to live this life God has given me.

Below is a quick shot of Flora and Kyle at their engagement session. This is the mirrored ceiling at the North Carolina Museum of Modern Art, which was also my office for the day. I really do have the best job ever.

meredith + jarrod . boone, nc

11.22.10 ~ Engagement ~ posted by Rachel

Meredith and Jarrod met while Jarrod was attending Appalachian State. He was a football player there. They travel to Boone, North Carolina, for all the home games still, so it was only appropriate to start their shoot right in the middle of the field. I'm sure Jarrod couldn't resist Meredith's magnetic personality from day one. She is one of those people that makes you feel like you've known her forever. Throughout the session, we laughed a lot, I learned a lot about how they met, where Jarrod proposed (at the parkway), even Meredith's favorite color scheme. Days like this make working seem less like work and more like fun!

The forecast for the day called for thunderstorms. We were lucky enough to miss most of the rain, which also meant that the light outside was creamy and amazing. This is my favorite light to shoot in! Meredith and Jarrod's smiles are pretty awesome, too. :)

The Appalachian State football stadium is affectionately known as The Rock. There's even a rock...or really a large boulder...propped up on a brick wall in the front of the grounds that was the perfect setting for these next two shots.

This series is my favorite from their session. Their smiles are so bright. And so are the fall colors! I am blown away.

After much fun at the campus, we took a little trip to one of my favorite spots in all of North Carolina - The Mast Farm Inn. There are so many cute corners around the grounds that are perfect for pictures. In the summer, there's beautiful wild flowers blooming. In the fall, like today, there were pumpkins and harvest decorations everywhere. Love!

Meredith and Jarrod, you guys were a blast to hang out with! It was wonderful getting to know you and I can't wait for your bridal shoot, Meredith!
