Hi there! Welcome to the Millie Holloman Photography blog. Our company has just one name, but we’re an entire team of crazy, creative, passionate, professional photographers. We’re based all over North Carolina (Wilmington, Raleigh, & Charlotte), but we work all over the world. What do we shoot? In one word: Love. Wedding Love. Baby Love. Family Love. Love of details. Love of design. Love of nature. And this blog? Well, it showcases the images, the people, and the stuff we want to share, both professionally and personally. So what are you waiting for? Come on in and look around.
We want you to get the most out of your time here, so here are a few helpful tips: Check out the text block above that says: “photographers”. Use it to get to know just one photographer better by sorting just their images, twitter updates or bio. Wondering who shot what? Look for the signature on the bottom left of each photograph. Looking for something specific? Type the topic or a keyword into the search bar above for related results.

WOW! 2007 has been an unbelievable year and I can't believe it is almost over! Thank you to those of you who have made this year amazing. Thank you to those who read this blog, continue to visit and leave me sweet comments. We are almost 75% of the way to my goal of 100,000 unique hits and I have received over 1,000 comments!
Thank you to my clients for trusting in me, challenging me and helping me grow! I have the best clients in the world and I consider you all my friends. It has been a joy to be a part of your amazing moments this year and establish a friendship with you that will last a life time
Merry Christmas everyone! I plan to take some time off this Christmas to snuggle with those I love, sip on red cups of cider and coco and just be together. A couple of family traditions we will carry on this year... game night, white elephant gift exchange, watching National Lampoons Christmas Vacation, reading the Christmas story (from the Bible), gathering with family, big home-cooked meals and lots of love to go around.
If you think we accomplished a lot in 2007, stay tuned 2008 is going to be a great ride! |

Kim & Phillip are getting married this coming May. I am not able to do their wedding because I am booked but I was totally excited to get the opportunity to do their engagement session. Phillip & Kim are both dancers, they both teach here locally at the same dance studio. Phillip is a hip-hop dancer so he has some sweet moves and Kim is Jazz so she is totally tall, slender and modelesque (I totally just made that word up). Dance is pretty much their life so I knew I had to incorporate it into their shoot.
I met Kim earlier this year, she is helping me out with some of my Search Engine Optimization so that I can get better results online and we recently started using Google Adwords a bit... she is a pro at this stuff. We have been talking for some time about doing their e-session and we waited until the perfect day... today! It was super warm, fall like weather, but just right for our photo venture.
We started the day off at a location I have been once before but it knew it had some sweet spots I had been yearning to use. Then we headed over to another location I have had on my radar for a while. I originally had the second location on my list because it had some cool dilapidated houses. Of course all of the shacks had been torn down so we opted to use their remains. Sweet shoot, awesome couple, stellar images... add some texture to a few for some juicy flavor and viola... you have one rockin' e-session.
I had this first shot conjured up in my head all week and it worked... only Phillip's move was much cooler than my imagination and Kim was working it for my camera like a rock star...

Location #2... dilapidate housing... actually crushed housing...

We wanted to capture their similar tattoos (although different in size) so here are my two attempts... I like them both. Curious though... which is our favorite? Let me know in the comments section.

Here comes a REALLY long post! I've spent the last four days on Imagine Christmas... attending practices and shows, shooting, editing, blogging... now it is over. With a big production like this comes a bitter sweet end for many. The work is over which means Christmas is that much closer and those neglected little things like housework and shopping can be completed before Christmas gets here. However, the work and effort put into the show is exciting and after it is over you have a bit of sadness because it was such a thrill to work on such a tremendous production with so much teamwork. Working towards a common goal is empowering and fun.
The production was a blast and a huge success. I can only hope there will be many more to come! Here is a peak of the action just in case you missed it. For those of you who were there, this is a little way to relive the moments you enjoyed or catch those you might have missed...
Carolers in the parking lot greeted those coming in to see the production. Once you into the lobby you were welcomed with hot apple cider and sugar cookies... nothing warms your hear like these three things combined. Music, cider and cookies... yummm! |

A little moment with some of the dancers backstage before the show began...

A show like this takes a lot of details and people including hair stylist, make up artist and other behind the scenes crew like seamstress, props, and more...

lots of eyelashes were applied... crazy eyelashes!

When I headed backstage to see how close we were to starting, I caught the dancers from the opening set taking a moment to pray...

Everyone was in the Christmas spirit, wearing their fluffy coats, scarfs, winter hats and smiling every step of the way...

Of course the tech crew had a lot of responsibility... without them the show would not have been the same. Look at all of those buttons... makes me want to play...

Pastor Abbye was in charge of the entire production. Here she is with the massive headset to prove it...

Live music.... (and two photos of the violin because I could not decide which I like best)

I am no musician but from what I understand, "Carol Of the Bells" is not an easy song to play and Klee rocked it on the guitar...

The Kite Dancer, Paul, totally rocked. It takes mad skills to fly a kite indoors without wind... mad skills!

Kipp brought down the house with his solo... I love it when kids sing in front of hundreds of people and he is just so cute...

Snow always makes everything that much happier and more Christmasy (I don't think that is a word)... now if we could just get a little snow in Wilmington!

Last Saturday was my Grandmother Bebe's 80th birthday, so my family made the trip to my mother's hometown to celebrate! I told my Grandmother that she could not get away with having her own little photo shoot on her 80th because that is just how life rolls when your granddaughter is a photographer. She threw up her hands and laughed, so I started snapping!

add in the son in-laws...

I also managed to get a shot of my cousin, Zach, out by the barn. He is totally into playing the guitar and I love it because most kids his age in his hometown are more into stuff like hunting and although he loves that stuff too, he totally has his own thing as well, music! I love how the guitar and barn are so different from one another but somehow the textures seem to bring it all together and it works.

One of my grandmother's favorite things to do is open presents, she loves it and she gets so excited. Many times at Christmas she has already unwrapped all of her presents before anyone else even gets started! She also loves chocolate and can eat a ton of it in one sitting. She always gets lots of Chocolate as gifts!
A few of my favorite things about my grandmother... when she makes fudge, she makes it for me without the nuts because I don't like nuts mixed into things. She makes the best punch in the world... her own recipe... it rocks! Every time we eat at her house, she always fixes us punch for dessert. She also makes the best Thanksgiving dressing in the world and her cooking skills rock! I suppose she is responsible for her daughters being such mad scientist in the kitchen... they all cook awesome meals! My grandmother is an inspiration to me because she has persevered through many hard times. My grandfather passed away when the girls were young (my mother was 12). She raised them both on her own and is a very independent woman! I love that she has overcome so many struggles in her life and is still here to tell us her stories! |

Here my grandmother is taking a peak at my older brother Seth's wedding album. I finally got around to printing one of them so I am half way to marking that goal off of my list!

Chocolate cake of course! Sandwiched by her two favorite people in the whole world, her girls. She loves her girls and just having them around makes her happy! Happy 80th birthday Bebe, I love you!
