Hi there! Welcome to the Millie Holloman Photography blog. Our company has just one name, but we’re an entire team of crazy, creative, passionate, professional photographers. We’re based all over North Carolina (Wilmington, Raleigh, & Charlotte), but we work all over the world. What do we shoot? In one word: Love. Wedding Love. Baby Love. Family Love. Love of details. Love of design. Love of nature. And this blog? Well, it showcases the images, the people, and the stuff we want to share, both professionally and personally. So what are you waiting for? Come on in and look around.
We want you to get the most out of your time here, so here are a few helpful tips: Check out the text block above that says: “photographers”. Use it to get to know just one photographer better by sorting just their images, twitter updates or bio. Wondering who shot what? Look for the signature on the bottom left of each photograph. Looking for something specific? Type the topic or a keyword into the search bar above for related results.

This year has been fantastic! We've been blessed to be featured in several magazines and we want to share the publications with you! We also want to give you a glimpse into what 2009 hold for MHP. You'll be seeing a lot of our publications from this past year (2008) posted on the blog soon. Tomorrow I'll blog a look back at 2008 along with a look forward into 2009 so check back!
When you pick up The Knot North Carolina in January be sure to flip to our 6 page "Real Weddings" feature on page 32 for Emily & Justin's Airlie Garden Wedding! We absolutely loved Emily's sense of style which was perfectly stated by none other than the fabulous Jennifer Rose-Sandy of Salt Harbor Designs. This is also our first full feature wedding in The Knot North Carolina and we hope you'll see us there more in 2009!
I have been waiting for months to see this magazine from the wonderful women over at Southern Weddings Blog! If it isn't apparent by the rocking blog these girls have (loaded with incredible updates and such style) just how amazing they are, then this magazine will confirm that they know what's hot! They just launched this great publication and yesterday this little surprise copy arrived in my mail box, I tore it open to see Kinsey & Corey's wedding featured as a Real Wedding inside.
This is the most updated wedding magazine I have seen yet and it's FULL of great images for brides to enjoy along with fabulous ideas and fun articles. Pick up a copy for yourself when they hit the shelves on January 6th!
You'll remember Kinsey & Corey's wedding from earlier this year on the right... how fun that when we opened it up we found our friend Kelly Moore's work feature on the page to the left... we keep good company!
On the bottom right of the ring page you'll spot the "fruit loop" ring shot from Rebecca!
and tucked into the beautiful arrangement of bouquets under "beautiful blooms" you'll spot a shot I grabbed at Megan & John Tyler's wedding just a few months ago!
If you are a bride looking for inspiration for your wedding planning pick up this magazine and if you are looking for daily inspiration drop by the Southern Weddings Blog!
DeAnna and Kyle have been on quite a journey with me! Andrew, my husband was Kyle's co-worker and they found out about me through him. Shortly after we went out for their engagement session, I found out I was moving halfway across the country to Charlotte! Thank you, DeAnna and Kyle, for being so patient and easy to work with!
Their big day was a wonderfully sentimental movement. DeAnna and Kyle are surrounded by encouraging and thoughtful friends and family. Some of the time I couldn't figure out if the bride or her bridesmaids were more excited! We started the day early in the morning at Headliners Day Spa in Canton, OH.
Window light and a lovely shade of lipstick. Gorgeous!
After the girls got all dolled up, we traveled to Landoll's Mohican Castle in Loudonville OH and took some time to get some detail shots before the formals. It was the most perfect day! Just look at that blue sky.
DeAnna's bridal sweet was stunning and had an intricate fireplace, with lion's heads on either side holding up the mantel. I couldn't resist taking this one...
...but then I also had to get one with the details of the stone front. The castle wall was beautiful.
Kyle lights up when he talks about DeAnna. They were high-school sweethearts and pretty close to perfect for each other.
DeAnna's bridesmaids were AWESOME! They were so attentive. Good thing, because it took an army to get that dress laced up! They always make wedding dresses so complicated. :)
DeAnna attached this family heirloom underneath her skirting in remembrance. Beautiful.
One of the bridesmaids delivered this letter to Kyle from DeAnna just a few moments before the ceremony.
first look...
After the ceremony, the guests made a long line leading down to a horse-drawn carriage. They blew bubbles the whole way. It could have been straight out of a fairytale!
The reception was held in a hall adjacent to the castle. It was moving and full of sentiment. I love these next two moments.
Just before I left that evening, DeAnna gave me the most thoughtful gift. From reading my bio and previous posts, she found out I was a little nutty for anything Christmas. So, she bought me an engraved ornament for my tree. DeAnna - thank you again. I love it and will keep it forever. I have it on my tree right now!
Just a couple of weeks ago I headed to Louisiana for a visit with my dear friend Kelly Moore. She and I teach Love Affair Workshop together along with Davina & Lauren. I met Kelly at a photography workshop a couple of years ago, we became friends really quickly and over the last two years, our friendship has developed to the point where we have become pretty much "best of friends". Kelly is one of those girls you don't have to really try with, you are just yourself and being together is ALWAYS a blast. She also has many of the same convictions as me and the same foundation in Christ. I am really thankful for friends like Kelly who are fun to be with.... caring... and always there when you need them.
Kelly, thanks for hosting me in your home and for treating me like family... I love you guys! You too Brandi!
Being a photographer, you don't always get photographs taken with your loved ones and I had just purchased the new 5D Mark II so I thought I would give it a try with Kelly & Posey. These images were taken in INCREDIBLY low light with just a peak of window light coming in from my right...
3200 ISO
f1.6
1/50
VERY IMPRESSIVE clarity for that film speed!
&showThis was my first try at video with the 5D Mark II and it was shot in INCREDIBLY low light as well... although I am no videographer, I am VERY impressed with the quality of video shot with this camera and plan to post lots more little videos of my life and every day happenings to share here on the blog. Enjoy!
I am not really sure when but before long there will be another video from my visit to Kelly's and it is going to be incredible! I can't wait for you to see... it is HILARIOUS!
gavin at the park... 12.28.08 ~ Life ~ posted by Millie
You probably know by now that my nephew is one of my favorite subjects to photograph... he is just so dag on cute and EVERY single photo I take of him just melts my heart. Since he was born I finally understand a little bit of how in love parents are with photos of their kids... I have a hard time throwing any of them into my cuts pile so Mommy and Mimi end up with tons of photos of little man... but they don't mind one bit! This afternoon Mom, Dad and myself headed out for lunch and on the way home we dropped by to pick up Gavin and spend the afternoon with him. We stopped by the neighborhood park for about 30 minutes to play before heading home for his nap... camera in tow of course! Here is a little peak into Gavin's afternoon with Mimi & Papa!
