Megan and Michael are such a beautiful couple! They are so in love and it's easy to see.
When I asked Megan what she wanted to do for their engagement session, she knew right away. She had the perfect spots in mind and she was right! Living in Raleigh, I don't get the chance to shoot on an actual farm very often. This was such a treat! |

Are they a happy couple or what?

I love bright blue skies, farms, and people in love!

The day we met for their engagement session was just a couple of days after Raleigh's first snow and it was COOOOOOOLD! Megan and Michael were such troopers, and they didn't mind at all when I asked them to snuggle together to keep each other warm.

I love the light in this one.

I have always wanted to shoot around a big pile of hay rolls. I got my wish!

Megan brought along the rope for a we're-tying-the-knot picture! Megan, I hope it turned out the way you imagined!

Seriously, you guys are beautiful!

Megan told me during their session that she and Michael love the outdoors. One day they want to own their own farm. Not a big one. Just big enough for a bulldog named Chunk, a cow named Bessie, and some pigs and chickens. I love that idea, and it seems just perfect!

Megan and Michael, thank you so much for spending the afternoon with me and bearing the cold! I had a wonderful time with you, and I can't wait for your wedding! It's going to be amazing!

As a photographer, you have to be ready for the unexpected. You may be expecting one thing and end up with something completely different. No matter what the surprise is, you have to embrace it and make the most of it. And if you are open to try, you can end up with something awesome.
Rebecca and Jeremy's session was a perfect example.
Before I get ahead of myself, meet Rebecca and Jeremy. They are two of the most gracious and sweet people I have been blessed to meet. They originally met in the 5th grade, but it wasn't until they were in high school that they started to date. I think it's awesome that Rebecca and Jeremy have known one another for so long. It reminds me of myself and Brent (we have known each other since we were fifteen). Rebecca and Jeremy love to cook, watch sports, play Scrabble, spend time at the beach and enjoy the outdoors whenever possible. They also love to travel and try new restaurants when they can.
Now, I am so thankful that Rebecca and Jeremy enjoy the outdoors, because that is where we typically like to shoot. However, on this day the Chapel Hill area had a little surprise....SNOW! I was extremely excited to have the chance to shoot in the snow, but I had to make sure that Rebecca and Jeremy would be as well. Of course they were, and we all spent the afternoon playing around in the snow. Later, we warmed up at one of Rebecca and Jeremy's favorite places downtown, Top of the Hill.
Rebecca and Jeremy, thank you for such a awesome day! It was wonderful and I cannot wait until your wedding! I know we are going to have just as much fun as we did on your session! |

The snow was so thick as it fell. It was absolutely beautiful!

Rebecca and Jeremy have many memories in Chapel Hill. UNC games, and nights in downtown are among the few.

Even after knowing one another for a long time, you can still see how much they are in love. So sweet!

If you notice on the bush behind the two love birds, there are actually pink flowers blooming! Rebecca told me in the fall, it is one of the only bushes that produces a flower in the arboretum area at UNC.

In love in their own winter wonderland.

Top of the Hill is a favorite spot for Rebecca and Jeremy, and apparently it is for many because the place was packed! The place has it's own brewery inside the restaurant/bar and big windows that overlook the downtown (now covered in blankets of white snow).

Top of the Hill recently added a "back bar" to their establishment. We decided to check it out, and I am so glad that we did. The room was decorated with chalk graffiti on the walls, big screens to watch the game, pool tables, dart boards, etc. I LOVE the lights hanging above Rebecca and Jeremy! So pretty!

Thanks again to Rebecca and Jeremy for such a fun day. I am so thankful that I had the chance to get to know you both. I know your wedding day is going to be wonderful, and I am happy I will be a part of it!

I know Thanksgiving is over, but I'm still feeling pretty thankful! Not just for the presents under our tree, the home we bought this year, or any of the other "things" I could be mentioning that should be claimed as valuable. Of course I'm grateful for those things, but what I choose to remember this Christmas is the real reason for the season. I was reminded of this listening to the radio the other day:
Joyful, joyful, we adore thee,
God of glory, Lord of love;
hearts unfold like flowers before thee,
opening to the sun above.
It's a song we all grew up hearing, not really thinking of the lyrics or the meaning behind them. But this time, I didn't just hear, I listened. I am so thankful for baby Jesus's guest appearance here on Earth!
We're heading up north over the next week or so to visit family and friends. Another reason to be thankful! I hope that as you get cut off countless times in holiday traffic, navigate through the overcrowded malls, and try to find a non-Christmas song on the radio you will take a moment to slow down and be thankful for the reason for this beautiful season. Here's to wishing you a happy Christmas!!! |

Jenny and Scott are a wonderful couple who are celebrating their wedding with a twist. You see, Jenny and Scott are acutally already married (and have been for a couple of years). They even have a sweet little boy named Caedmon, who will melt your heart. However, Jenny and Scott didn't get to create the memorable wedding celebration the first time, like many couples do. Scott was in the military when he and Jenny met, and by the time they fell in love and knew they were meant for one another, Scott was deployed again.
I believe any time is great to celebrate with friends and family which is why I was so excited to work with Jenny and Scott. Now that Scott was home, they could create and enjoy the wedding celebration of their dreams.
And it was dreamy...
Brent and I met up with Jenny and Scott on a gorgeous day at Orton Plantation. The enourmous oak trees, dusty dirt roads and quaint little chapel are enough to make anyone's wedding dreams come true. Salt Harbor Designs and A Southern Thyme Catering were also huge players in making Jenny and Scott's wedding amazing. Thanks to everyone for such a beautiful day! And thanks to Jenny and Scott for trusting me and Brent with capturing your special moments. It was an honor and a joy!
|

Such a handsome little man. I think it's really special that Caedmon gets to be a part of his parents' wedding celebration.

As the guests began to arrive and throughout the ceremony Maura Kropke played the violin! We love hearing her play!

Of course it's a given that Scott would sport his dress blues for this occasion. It's perfect.

Even though Jenny and Scott are already married...

...he looks at her like it's the first time.

I love this angle Brent grabbed! You would never know that Jenny and Scott were surrounded by loving friends and family, it looks like just the two of them!

The ceremony was very special. At the end of the ceremony, Jenny and Scott dedicated their son Caedmon in front of all their family and friends.

LOVE! Jenny's dress was amazing and it made her shine! I love how the fabric drapes down so softly. It looks like flower petals follow her everwhere she goes.

Salt Harbor Designs did a fabulous job on Jenny's bouquet! Wait until you see the design of the reception...Exquisite!

You are such a beautiful couple!

I love the mix of oranges and creams in the decor that Salt Harbor created for the reception. Simply gorgeous!

Love this idea for a guest book. Everyone's thumb prints represent their signature as well as the leaf on the tree. So cool!

Thanks to Nicki's Cakes for an delicious and beautiful cake! I always love the designs!

A Southern Thyme Catering did an awesome job with providing a tasty meal to Jenny, Scott and their guests. One thing on the menu (that happens to be a favorite of mine and Brent's) was the Barbeque Sundae. This mixture of cornbread, coleslaw, baked beans, pulled pork and barbeque sauce will make your tastebuds thank you!

I love this shot of Caedmon with his grandmother. So sweet!

Jenny and Scott stepped over the hanging frames for some quick shots. Such a fun idea.

Thanks again to Jenny and Scott for an awesome day. We wish you all the best!

Claire and John are a sweet couple who are getting married on Figure 8 Island next year. I learned that Claire and John met in San Francisco, at a place called Cigar Bar during happy hour. At first, Claire was a little skeptical that a relationship could even exist between her and John, for the mere fact that John worked for a firm that was also a client of the company Claire worked at. Within a week (and a little scheming from a friend), John showed up at a party the Claire was attending, and they hung out.
They have been by one another's side ever since.
Claire and John love to travel, hike the mountains, walk on the beach, and try new wines and cheeses. They enjoy spending time with one another and their families too. They love to have tease and pick on each other (but all in good fun). In fact, during the session they both started picking on one another (maybe John a little more than Claire) and it was funny to watch and capture.
I thought it would be fun to start in a little cigar shop called The Cigar Exchange. They had a walk-in humidor full of all different types of cigars. After a little time in the bar, we all headed downtown and finished at the park.
Thanks again to Claire and John for an awesome afternoon in the park! We can't wait to see you again for the wedding! |

Since Claire and John enjoy the outdoors, we thought it would be perfect to head to Greenfield Lake. So pretty!

Thanks again to Claire and John for a great day!
