Hi there! Welcome to the Millie Holloman Photography blog. Our company has just one name, but we’re an entire team of crazy, creative, passionate, professional photographers. We’re based all over North Carolina (Wilmington, Raleigh, & Charlotte), but we work all over the world. What do we shoot? In one word: Love. Wedding Love. Baby Love. Family Love. Love of details. Love of design. Love of nature. And this blog? Well, it showcases the images, the people, and the stuff we want to share, both professionally and personally. So what are you waiting for? Come on in and look around.

We want you to get the most out of your time here, so here are a few helpful tips: Check out the text block above that says: “photographers”. Use it to get to know just one photographer better by sorting just their images, twitter updates or bio. Wondering who shot what? Look for the signature on the bottom left of each photograph. Looking for something specific? Type the topic or a keyword into the search bar above for related results.

Catherine and Jon are the cutest couple from Greenville, South Carolina! I love their laid back attitude and southern hospitality! The first thing this adorable couple did when we met was introduce me to the rest of their family...their two dogs. They consider their pups to be training for when they decide to have kids, which is hilarious and awesome at the same time! We pretty much talked about our love for animals the entire session. I just love it when I have things in common with my clients. It makes work seem so much more fun!

Can you say perfect family? So cute.

Greenville South Carolina has one of the only downtowns with natural waterfalls. Yes, this was smack dab in the center of downtown. Love it!

At the very end of the shoot, we found this amazing open air building. I'm a total sucker for shadows, so I was pretty much in heaven when I saw this next shot!

While walking back to the car after the session was over, I saw this amazing tree trunk. I pretty much begged Catherine and Jon to take just one more shot here. LOVE

Thank you so much Catherine and Jon for hanging out with me for the day in your hometown! I had a great time getting to know your whole family and can't wait to work with you again.

03.30.10 ~ Updates, Life ~ posted by Millie

I realize that we've been posting a lot on the blog but it's been a while since I've shown up here to fill you in on life. I've had a lot of heartfelt posts I've considered making here lately but I'm also trying to continue to balance my life as things get a little busier and we head into one of the busiest season we've ever experienced here at MHP. Those thoughts will make their way onto this blog soon enough, you can be sure of that!

I thought I would drop by and give you all another peek into studio life. We've been hard at work over here sprucing up and making it feel like spring while we are working. If you have to sit at a desk for a good portion of the day then you should enjoy every moment of it while life is buzzing by just outside the window. Just today I visited a nursery right around the corner from me, The Transplanted Garden, what a glorious place! If you've never seen it then you must go by, I'll be taking Amanda to introduce her to it's wonderfulness soon. Renee (our new intern, who you'll meet soon... maybe this week!) went in with me and I think it's safe to say we walked away with more than I bargained for. However, I'm feeling very inspired these days... spring has sprung!

What have you done lately to make your work place a fun place to be? Here is a look into the little environment we have created for ourselves here at MHP...

Our little herb garden complete with basil, oregano, cilantro & rosemary...

the cilantro will be used in the fresh salsa we love to make over lunch!

Yesterday while I was in Raleigh, I found these adorable plants at Anthropologie and just had to have them... look at how cute the moss covered pots are!

That dried lavender smells as good as it looks! MMMMMMM!

Thanks to Richard over at Image Finishers who recently sent Amanda back to the studio with some amazing old cameras, guides, bulbs, and flashes he had saved over the years. I am in love with them all and we've enjoyed tying them into our little studio.

These little topiary's might be my new favorite... but they come in second to my new kumquat tree which you see in the first shot!

I can't show you the studio and not post the hall bathroom, it's one of my favorite places in the house. I'm not sure if that's because it's the only completely finished room or if it's just that cute!

So let us know... what do you think? What amazing things are we missing? What MUST we add to the mix?

When you're a photographer, people assume you get pictures taken of your family often. It's so not true, though! Finding the time to get out from behind the lens and have a photo shoot of yourself can somehow get put on the bottom of the priority list. I remember when Andrew and I got pictures taken from the MHP staff last February, Rebecca said something to me like "Joel and I really need to do this. We haven't had pictures taken since our wedding." Even then, it took us another year to get it together! Gasp!

I'm so glad we finally got our schedules together to do this. Rebecca and Joel are still so in love and it was really fun for me to see them interact and pose for the camera. The first part of our shoot was super romantic and fun. Can't you just imagine them sleeping under the stars in this enchanted forest setting?

Rebecca was soooo excited to have a pillow fight! Maybe almost as excited as I was to photograph it. I love it when people have FUN with their shoot!

OK talk about fun. Seriously, Rebecca's hair is AHHHHmazing here. I love it!

We thought it appropriate to do a few shots that explain where Rebecca and Joel are in life right now. Joel just got accepted into law school, hence the deep concentration look and oversized books. If his acceptance wasn't exciting enough, Rebecca is expecting their first baby!!!!! I thought it would be cute to have her do a few shots knitting baby booties...but she forgot how to knit. Hilarious!

Huge props to Joel for going along with our wacky vintage inspired dress code for this shoot. You are a trooper and you both look fantastic. :)

Quite possibly my favorite from the entire shoot. Rebecca looks GORgeous and very modelesque. I love love love this shot.

The different colored balloons were totally Rebecca's idea. I adore the amount of color in these next few images.

Yay, Rebecca and Joel! We finally got some pictures of you! We'll have to make this a yearly thing now. :)
