My favorite couples are the ones who are so incredibly at ease on their wedding day that you can just feel their confidence as they walk into marriage. Add to that great locations and stylish details, and you have a winner for sure!
Jennifer and Kyle are just that kind of couple. Their day was amazing, with beautiful weather in Charlotte, a stunning, newly renovated St. Peter's Episcopal Church, amazing florals courtesy of Flowers from the Cellar, and incredible details by the one and only Alyse Woodward.
Speaking of that stunning church, you can take a peek at it below. It's a gorgeous little piece of history sitting right in the middle of uptown Charlotte in the middle of skyscrapers and condos. A hidden gem, I think! |

And if you thought the outside was pretty, wait until you check out this shot Lindsey grabbed of the inside! That organ was amazing!!

This handkerchief is an heirloom in Jennifer's family - such a special touch!

Lindsey and I SWOONED over these bridesmaids bouquets with the guinea feathers in them. So fun!

Jennifer did an amazing job choosing her bridesmaids - they were so attentive and supportive to her! When she put on that dress, all the beautiful, laughing, chatting girls fell silent - and who could blame them - she looked stunning!

Jennifer's dad thought she looked amazing as well, and they had a little emotional moment as they realized what was going to happen that day.

Kyle and the boys, all ready to go.

This is one of Kyle's nephews who acted as a ringbearer for the ceremony. I love his little curls and those polka dotted suspenders are just too cute!

I love this shot Lindsey grabbed of Jennifer making a few last minute touch ups.

There's nothing I love more in a ceremony than seeing the groom's face as he catches his first glimpse of his bride. I think Kyle was pleased.

St. Peter's is a stunning church, and they finished renovating this sanctuary just 2 weeks before the wedding. Jennifer and Kyle's wedding was the first held in the new sanctuary. SO beautiful!

The bridal party was awesome - and they were willing to try any and all of my crazy ideas! LOVE that! Motion is one of my favorite things to include in an image.

Lindsey brought along some adorable mustaches for us to use as well. These girls were such good sports - and cute cute cute!

A few portraits of the bride and groom...

A '56 Ford was the getaway car! There's just something nostalgic about old cars.

And the most special chauffeur ever - Jennifer's grandfather.

Check out this reception spot - the Design Center Atrium was GORGEOUS, and I just loved all the layers of texture in the fabrics and feathers and crystals. Lindsey did an amazing job capturing all these details!

Jennifer's bouquet - maybe my favorite black and white bouquet ever. With those anemonies and peonies (my favorite!), black feathers and the rhinestone wrap. Oh, it was amazing!

The first dance looked like a lot of fun!

I gotta say, I LOVE this shot of the father daughter dance! Gorgeous bride, emotional dad, and flare from a guest's camera flash? Yes, please!

Jennifer set the tone for the whole event from the very beginning with her invitations.

Congratulations Jennifer and Kyle! I had an amazing time working with you! We wish you all the best as you start your marriage!

I think that this might be the sweetest family in history. I met up with the Fergusons at a local garden, and what a perfect spot it turned out to be! Amanda, AKA Mom, came prepared with so many great ideas and props, and I loved every bit of it! It was so much fun to see the kids, all happy, smiling, and laughing, and it was kind of like seeing a little bit of my future, a few years down the road.
Aren't these 3 of the cutest kids you've ever seen?
|

We started out by having a little tea party picnic! Everyone wanted some of the tea!

I absolutely adore their smiles here, and I wish you could have heard their little giggles. Kids laughing is maybe the most joyful sound in the world!

and Tanner! Don't they all have the most STUNNING blue eyes??

I think that everyone caught fireflies at some point in their childhood. Amanda's sister made the adorable jar that they're using.

And bubbles!!! What kid doesn't like bubbles??

Anna is an avid reader, and really wanted to curl up under this little tree with a book.

Those laughs again! I love it!

Amanda and her husband, Daniel, own several restaurants in the area: the Q-Shack, and have just opened a new one: The FIsh Shack. I used to eat at Q-Shack in college, and loved it! The Fish Shack is so new that Daniel wasn't able to get away for our session.
We missed having him there, but will you just look at his adorable family?! |

Feeding the fish and the ducks. I love how the kids are so intent on what they are doing, and I was so excited to see the crane in the background of this shot!

Thanks so much to the Ferguson family for spending the afternoon with me! I had a fantastic time with you, and I hope I get to see you again soon - this time with all of you! :)

If you've followed this blog for any length of time then there is no doubt you've heard of my Get It Together Kit (which starts shipping this coming Monday) or The Love Affair Workshop (a photography workshop for women).
Both of these projects are things I've poured my heart and soul into from day one of deciding to do them. The Love Affair Workshop is a venture I started with 3 friends who live throughout the US. Our initial goal when planning to do this workshop was to create a workshop that was packed full of everything we had hoped for in other workshops we attended and never recieved. The foundation for this workshop is still very much the same, we want this workshop to inspire and educate you. We want you to leave determined to live a better and more balanced life and we want to help you get there!
Although over the years we've made vast improvements to the structure, we've never compromising quality. I'm excited because this coming September we are having another Love Affair Workshop. All week we've been having giveaways on the blog to win fun prizes and even a scholarship.
The scholarship... this brings me to my next point. We realize that investing in workshops is expensive (althought it is a great investment) and not everyone is in a place to be able to afford it at this very moment in time. So each year we offer a scholarship to some lucky lady who is blessed to join us for FREE. The winner just has to pay for their flight / transportation and we take care of the workshop tuition, which also includes hotel and most meals. This week's giveaways have a new twist where you can also play to win the scholarship seat... go check it out!
If you are wanting to register for the workshop, go ahead... we've still got some seats left and would love to have you join us in Dallas this year!
Today's giveaway is a Get It Together Kit and I would love for you to head over to the blog for a chance to win. Every giveaway is SUPER easy to play (it only take seconds to enter) and each entry also goes into the big jackpot for the final scholarship giveaway later this week so go read all about it and tweet, blog or facebook for your chance to win the kit! |

Every once in a while, you stumble across a couple that you just KNOW are perfect for each other. That couple is Brooke and Ashley! After catching a glimpse of their lives together during their engagement session, I was so excited for their wedding on Bald Head Island. Renee, our fabulous intern, assisted me in capturing this amazing couple's first day as husband and wife.
We started our day with the girls as Brooke was getting ready. Spirits were light and you could just tell love was in the air! |

Have you ever wondered how they get all those buttons buttoned? A crochet tool does the trick beautifully!

Brooke asked that we take a picture of this AHmazing family heirloom, which was used to hold the ribbon around Brooke's waist together. So sweet and absolutely stunning.

The ceremony was very endearing. Even before the music started, some of the family members started tearing up. It's an honor to be invited into people's lives every weekend during this emotional and beautiful event we call a wedding.

Brooke made the streamers for their formal exit. What a fabulous idea!

The wedding party was comprised of friends from here in the USA as well as some friends from Ashley's rugby team in Australia. Here they are lookin' tough. :)
Don't let this smug shot fool you. This group of guys was fun, fun, fun! Later they actually ASKED me to do a jumping shot with the rest of the wedding party...because they do a lot of jumping for rugby? Haha I have the best clients AND client's wedding parties ever!! |

Brooke and Ashley were surrounded by so many wonderful friends and family! Their wedding party dressed up their golf cart. My favorite part - Coca Cola for Brooke and Lager Beer from Australia for Ashley.

A few moments alone on the dunes of the island.

Renee grabbed this shot...

...while I took this one. Do you see Ashley's smile hidden under there? Sweet love.

Favorite shot of the day.

Brooke and Ashley practiced a swing number for their first dance. They both expressed to me how nervous they were beforehand, but they did such a great job!

The Shoals Club was the perfect spot for their reception!

The reception was decorated with flowers indigenous to Australia. What a fun and personal touch! My favorite were the flowers called Kangaroo Paws.

Brooke and Ashley, I am so incredibly happy for the two of you. Enjoy married life!

Emily & Ted are an awesome couple! I knew I was going to get along quite well with this family when I first spoke with Emily over the phone... followed by a conversation with her Father (who by the way has a dreamy australian accent). If Emily & Ted are any indication of the quality of the loved ones who surround them then I can't wait to meet the whole bunch.
I wanted to mix their engagement session up a bit and I put quite a bit of thought into it. Since Emily & Ted actually live a couple of hours inland, they liked the idea of a beach session. I was pretty set on their session being full of life and fun so I dreamed up an idea they were sure to love. One thing I knew about Emily is that she's a "memories" girl (our phone conversation revealed this even further) and Ted is the "romantic" type. Perfect scenario... Ted enjoys wood carving so he carved Emily a special "memory box" which is already stuffed full of love letters, trinkets, memorable mementos, and just about anything you can think of. That box is now overflowing so it's spilled into scrapbooks and more memory boxes.
I felt like the perfect thing to signify the "romance" & "memory" between them would be a fun afternoon at Wrightsville Beach complete with a polaroid camera... |

I fell in love with the adorable little bird painted on this wall... so cute!

I realize that this shot has some weird focus but I am kind of in love with it for some strange reason...

What's better than an afternoon on the beach surrounded by the person you love, lovely light, and all the things you love in return!

Once again... our intern, Renee, snags an image for the blog!

Emily's favorite drink = a root beer and two straws!

That's the memory box in between them and these two reminiscing!

and a scrapbook she made for Ted!

We lucked out and found some amazing seaweed on the beach, I love the contrast of the green against the ring!

Ted loves to play football and an afternoon on the beach would not be complete without some tackling... right?
