Hi there! Welcome to the Millie Holloman Photography blog. Our company has just one name, but we’re an entire team of crazy, creative, passionate, professional photographers. We’re based all over North Carolina (Wilmington, Raleigh, & Charlotte), but we work all over the world. What do we shoot? In one word: Love. Wedding Love. Baby Love. Family Love. Love of details. Love of design. Love of nature. And this blog? Well, it showcases the images, the people, and the stuff we want to share, both professionally and personally. So what are you waiting for? Come on in and look around.
We want you to get the most out of your time here, so here are a few helpful tips: Check out the text block above that says: “photographers”. Use it to get to know just one photographer better by sorting just their images, twitter updates or bio. Wondering who shot what? Look for the signature on the bottom left of each photograph. Looking for something specific? Type the topic or a keyword into the search bar above for related results.
Wanna send us some love? There is no better way than leaving comments! We can't wait to hear from you so scroll down and see what's new…

Jaime and Demian’s wedding was held on the 26th of April at the Coral Bay Club in Atlantic Beach, NC. I can honestly say this was the most fun I’ve ever had photographing a wedding. There were people flown in from all over the US – Texas, California, and New York just to name a few. Jaime and Demian have such a unique and chic style, which totally came through in the suit Demian picked as well as the bridesmaids’ dresses. Can you believe those dresses were from J.Crew?! What a great idea.
The reception was lots of fun. Jaime and Demian had a band play through the night, but near the end, Demian and a few of his friends took over the stage and just killed it! Demian is genius at the guitar.
|

Every single member of their engagement party could hold a role on Saturday Night Live. They were wild and crazy, but also strong advocates for Jaime and Demian’s life together. These crazy groomsmen look untamable, but they blew us all away as they sang an “a cappella” ballad at the ceremony. They were incredible!

I LOVE LOVE LOVE the sunglasses, especially the ones that look like shutters. HiLARious!!!

Jaime's laugh is just so beautiful.

In keeping theme with Jaime’s bridal portraits, the couple scaled the lifeguard stand in full wedding attire for a few shots together. I’m telling you – we have the best clients at MHP!

Everything about this next image screams "fun" to me. The guy on the left screaming is the minister. Yes, the minister. The beautiful lady on the right is Jaime's mom. She is clearly having a ball. And of course Jaime grabbing the mic is classic!!!!!

The night ended with a baby blue vintage car and sparklers. What a wonderful night!

A couple of weeks ago I met up with the Brown Family for some portraits of everyone together before they parted ways for the summer. When Alan (Dad) called me about the session, he said he had spotted a field of wildflowers on the side of the road that he wanted to shoot at. I knew exactly where he was talking about because I had spotted it a few days earlier and had intentions to shoot there so I was excited to hear I would get the chance. Their youngest daughter was really intrigued by all of the flowers so she would pick them and throw them up in the air or just run around in them. As soon as I spotted this I started shooting...

Dillon is a super sweet kid, of course, it takes a special boy to have 4 sisters. He loves to play drums so he bought his drumsticks along for a few shots.

The backlight was great...

All of the kids have unique interest which we tried to bring out from photography...

to cooking... (we actually found this grill randomly placed at our second location) weird, right?!

Just as the sun was getting to low to go on, we finished up the shoot with a couple of images of Mom & Dad! I love this family, they were full of enthusiasm, great ideas and love for each other!

A friend of mine recently hosted a dinner party and asked if I would mind dropping in to photograph the setup... I wasn't able to stay for dinner but the menu looked extravagant and the table was inviting!

Yes, you read that right, we are closing for the month of August. I will not be accepting any bookings for portrait sessions during the month of August. Our company photographers WILL still be available to shoot, orders CAN still be placed through the studio and weddings CAN still be booked. We just may not answer the phone at all times. We will be playing catch up on edits and albums, working to build the business, planning some new workshops, and sending all of our equipment off for regular maintenance and repair. I will be taking this time for some vacation and a break from work as well!
This means that if you have not planned your engagement session and you are planning to get married in the Fall, you need to book it now! This also applies to bridals, day after sessions and any other photo session that will be time sensitive. |

A NOTE FROM MILLIE: People have begun writing me asking me where to find certain spots in town so I thought it warranted a blog post to let you know what answer you will get if you do the same...
We try to keep things fresh and do things differently. We encourage our fellow photographers to do the same, why do something that has already been done, when you can do something completely new?! I often times get into my car and drive around to look for new places to shoot, Wilmington is full of great places for new looks. So no, we won't tell you the spot, and no it isn't because we're jerks, it's because we want to spur your creativity! Do something new and different, don't be like us. So happy hunting, we hope that you find some place just as cool, but completely your own!
I personally don't even like to shoot at the same location twice unless I am using completely different things. We actually love it when we shoot somewhere and the place gets torn down so our clients can't request it and no one else can do it, leaving everyone to be original and unique! So next time you see a location you want to shoot at in another's persons photos, just ask yourself, what is it I love about that location and set off an an adventure to find something even more amazing! |

This is part two of Megan & John Tyler's engagement session, scroll down to see part one. After we finished up at the mill, we headed for some rye and wheat fields. I love the contrast between the cozy, warm mill and the wide open field.

I love how John Tyler is looking over at Megan in this shot.

I could not decided between the next two, so I chose both!

This shot is so romnatic to me... don't you just want to be here right now?!

John Tyler informed me that this is how they always walk... her hand clutching his pinky, I love it!

Megan's father is a pig farmer so we finished out the session at her dad's farm where he pulled out a baby pig for a few quick shots. This is life on the farm for sure!
