We've been working really hard over here at MHP. It feels like we are editing around the clock to get everything up from all of the awesome weddings we've been shooting this Spring. Here is a sneak peek of things to come from Danielle & Joseph's wedding at Airlie Gardens right here in Wilmington, NC...

I recently took a trip to Concord, North Carolina to take a few photos of a great wedding location, The Orchard House, for their website. They offer a beautiful bed and breakfast style house, acres of gardens and land for ceremonies, and a permanent tent for receptions. What struck me about this place was the attention to vintage details. Everything from the working skeleton keys to the wallpapers to the decor was full of charm and history.

The owners brought in a bride for a few shots. This next image was taken in the bride's quarters.

The grounds around the house are elegantly done and are a perfect setting for a countryside wedding. The owners of this great location go all out for their guests at each and every wedding. They've enhanced the land with lush gardens to catch your eye during the day and candlelit pathways for the evening - so romantic!

Thank you Melissa and Emily for having me come out for this shoot! You have a beautiful property and I can't wait to work with you both again!

Natalie & Kevin were married at the Bald Head Island, Shoals Club. It was a beautiful day and we had the privilege of working with Kim Fisher Designs who always does an amazing job on the florals and overall theme of the wedding! We started out the day at the house where the girls were getting ready. When we first arrived Natalie told me about a REALLY sweet note that some friends of the family had written from her so I secured the note, found the rings and started snapping!
|

I love this shot Rachel grabbed through all of the commotion of Natalie getting her hair done while her Mother's makeup is being applied in the foreground...

Lindsey has been training to second shoot weddings this Fall and she is catching on quick... another reason to love her!

Another Lindsey shot... she stood on the bed to grab this shot of Natalie's bridesmaid's helping her get ready!

The flower girls looked on from the doorway...

The ring bearer got boxers the night before as a gift, he was a little embarrassed to show them off, but I LOVE it!

He warmed up to me a little throughout the day and we jumped on the tram to head to the ceremony while Lindsey & Rachel headed to grab the detail shots of the ceremony site!

Again, thanks to Kim Fisher Designs for that classic and colorful pop she brings to EVERY event!

The groomsmen were given flasks for being a part of the big day!

Snapdragons for the flower girls to throw, a new and fun idea!

I grabbed the rear and Rachel scoped out a spot of front so she could grab some action... A full shot by me...

Some up close shots by Rachel...

Kevin's reaction when he got the first glimpse of his beautiful bride!

A little moment as husband and wife once the ceremony was wrapped we walked down the deck to allow the guests to head over to the cocktail hour... the wind blew just right and I was excited to get a shot with Natalie's veil blowing!

Then we hit the beach for the bridal party shots and grabbed some of the parasols that were laid out for the guests!

A fun ring shot in the palm tree...

A little Father & Daughter dance action...

I thought this was such a sweet shot when I was editing all of the images of Kevin's mother sharing an emotional embrace with Natalie!

A really dark and fun farewell full of pink confetti and farewell hugs!

Besty & Cory's were married at Grace United Methodist Church here in Wilmington, NC. I have not had the opportunity to photograph there before so when I first arrive I scoped out all of the spots I wanted to use for the pre and post images. One of the church ladies showed me all of the spots every other photographer in town chooses, so right away, I knew where not to shoot. Instead I opted to start in the dark library at the conference table...

Betsy has the sweetest family and her Dad was all smiles when he saw her in her wedding dress for the first time...

Of course there were a few tears of joy shed so it was time to dry those eyes before the ceremony began.

Jennifer of Salt Harbor Designs did the fabulous flowers for this event and as always they rocked! I thought it would be fun to shoot them on this old radiator I spotted in the hallway.

Another fun spot I scouted out in advance was the basement so we took Cory down there for a couple of quick shots solo...

I LOVED the lines in this portrait!

Salt Harbor added lots of fun elements like "golf tees" to their details, tying in Cory's profession because he is a golf pro! The below images were taken by both myself and Rachel.

During the service, I was allowed to be in the balcony and I wasn't allowed to move, so Rachel stationed herself down in the lobby to grab Betsy and her Dad right before she walked down the aisle... she also scored this shot of the flower girl which I love!

Me working the tilt from the balcony...

On the way back through for the family shots, Betsy and Cory had to go through the underground tunnel where they stopped for just a second to enjoy one another and let it all sink in...

Then I took them back to the basement room!

The reception was held at the Roudabush Room where once again Salt Harbor brought out all the stops... Notice the canvas on the bottom left which I took during their e-session, it was hanging for all of the guests to enjoy! The pasta bar they had was amazing too... my fav meal ever at a wedding by far, it was fresh and delicious!
Our intern, Kayleigh, is training to second shoot this year so you'll also find some of her shots mixed into the collage below... |

Betsy & Cory left by horse and buggy and I rode along in the front with James, the buggy driver, where I was able to capture this sweet shot of them pulling away as their friends and family looked on!

James took us right down to the riverfront for a perfect sunset shot... it was literally the best 5 minutes we could have hit that spot for the sunlight!
|

Besty & Cory - your love is amazing and I know that you and Cory care for one another deeply by the way you interact. I only hope to find love some day as pure and selfless as yours, it was a fantastic day!

Catherine and Nicholas (or Cat and Nic) are from a small town in Illinois. They were high school sweethearts (how sweet)! Nic was recently stationed at Camp LeJeune and fell in love with the coast, so they decided to bring their family and friends to Wilmington for a whirlwind week of beach living and a wedding. I met this gorgeous couple just two days before their wedding for their engagement session.
The first place I took them was a local music store in downtown Wilmington. I knew immediately that it was going to be a great session when I took this shot within the first 5 frames.
|

After taking a few inside, we took a quick tour of downtown Wilmington. There are endless possibilities for pictures here!

Did I mention Cat's eyes? Seriously.

This might be one of my favorites from the day. I love the negative space, the symmetry of the windows and the rustic feel of the whole image.

Nic is a true gentleman and treats Cat like she is the only one in the room. I *heart* that.

Thank you for running in heels for me, Cat! You rocked it out!

I played around with flare and I think it paid off!

Nic says that he loves Cat's smile. It's so obvious by the way he lights up when he sees her.

I had to run to catch up with the guy in the bike to ask him to ride by for a picture. Was it worth it? Um, yes yes yes.

Cat and Nic's wedding is coming to the blog soon! It was an amazing wedding in the pouring rain, so check back for it!
