Hi there! Welcome to the Millie Holloman Photography blog. Our company has just one name, but we’re an entire team of crazy, creative, passionate, professional photographers. We’re based all over North Carolina (Wilmington, Raleigh, & Charlotte), but we work all over the world. What do we shoot? In one word: Love. Wedding Love. Baby Love. Family Love. Love of details. Love of design. Love of nature. And this blog? Well, it showcases the images, the people, and the stuff we want to share, both professionally and personally. So what are you waiting for? Come on in and look around.

We want you to get the most out of your time here, so here are a few helpful tips: Check out the text block above that says: “photographers”. Use it to get to know just one photographer better by sorting just their images, twitter updates or bio. Wondering who shot what? Look for the signature on the bottom left of each photograph. melissa + kevin

06.30.09 ~ Engagement ~ posted by Brent & Amanda

Melissa and Kevin are getting married this fall here in the beautiful state of North Carolina. Not only have they been planning their wedding, but both of them have been busy completing their degrees from college as well. School has been a big part Melissa and Kevin's lives and they have a strong connection to both of the schools they attended. Brent and I thought using their college campuses would be a great for their engagement session.

We started at Peace College (which happens to be an all-girl school) where Melissa attended for teaching. The campus was beautiful with the old brick buildings and large columns. We even decided to venture up onto the roof of the campus! Later on, we all headed over to NC State where Kevin went for his undergrad. Kevin actually just finished law school and is studying for his bar exam later this year (we wish you all the best in that endeavor)!

Brent and I had a wonderful time with Melissa and Kevin and can't wait until November for their special day. We know it is going to be a blast with lots of fun and memories. Thanks so much to you both!

You wouldn't know it, but Melissa is not too keen on heights. She looks pretty safe and happy in the arms of her Kevin!

In between college campuses we stopped in a park to grab some shots of Melissa, Kevin and their cute little schnauzer named Maggie. She is so cute and holds a special place in my heart.

We stopped at NC State's Bell Tower for some shots with Melissa and Kevin. It really was a beautiful sight.

I like the textures in the old bricks at NC State. Kevin told me that each year a company donates bricks to the college. The company only donates as many bricks as were used the year before, so the school makes sure they have a steady need at all times to use as many as are given.

I like all of the lines in this shot.

Again, I love the lines!

Towards the end of our session we headed down to a tunnel where anyone can enjoy creating some graffiti. It was amazing and so full of color! I looked at it as living art because it was always changing and evolving into something new and different.

Brent decided to create a panoramic from one of the graffiti walls, only with a little twist. I love the end result!

gavin is two!

06.30.09 ~ Life ~ posted by Millie

Gavin, my nephew, is two! It's actually hard to believe this little guy is growing up so quickly. I know people say that a lot but I never realized how quickly a child grows up until Gavin was born... watching him has been a HUGE source of joy in my life. Every little thing he says is cuter than before and everything he does makes us laugh. He's a keeper!

Gavin & Dana have been visiting family in Kansas for the last few weeks and he celebrated his second birthday there with family and friends, but before he left he had a little slip n' slide and ice cream party at our house with some friends and family. Fun!

fun with the party blower!

Check out the shot on the bottom left of Gavin with his microphone from Aunt Amanda and Uncle Brent. This was the perfect gift because Gavin loves to watch American Idol and pretend like he is singing in the microphone which is usually whatever he can find to make a mic with but now he has a real one!

For the kids there were slip n' slides, water sprinklers, a baby pool, bubbles, water guns, water balloons, and of course a cake for Gavin made by Sweet T's!

Lindsey rocked it out with the duke blue devil on our homemade cake!

an there was an ice cream bar, yummo!!!

Happy Birthday little man now hurry home so Auntie Millie can squeeze you and give you some kisses!

Noelle and Matt

06.27.09 ~ Portraits ~ posted by Rebecca

My friends Matt and Noelle have been married for a while now, but never got engagement pictures done. They really wanted some images that really captured their relationship with each other at this point in their life together, and I couldn't agree more! The first few years of marriage, when you're just starting out, are completely irreplaceable. Whether it's a great first year or a year of trials, through which you grow closer together, you just cannot get this time back. So we decided to go out and capture some images of the two of them for them to remember this time in their lives.

We decided to go outside of my normal shooting area, and we discovered some amazing locations!!!! It had threatened to rain all day, and we contemplated canceling the shoot, but decided to chance it anyway. I am SO glad we did! The rain held off, and we had some amazing clouds to work with!

Noelle and Matt are such a sweet couple! They read on my bio page that I love chocolate and diet coke, so they brought me some when we met for their shoot! Isn't that awesome of them?!?

You can tell from the way they interact that they are so in love - i love that!

Matt grew up in Kansas, so he really wanted to find a wheat field to get some pictures in... he actually scoped this out one day before we shot and suggested it - nice work, don't you think?

I LOVE this one - they are so deep in conversation with each other that they forgot I was there. Sometimes that just makes for the best, most natural photos.

A quiet moment together, watching the storm clouds roll by.

Not only was there an amazing wheat field, but right beside it, there was this tree covered in kudzu. I just couldn't pass it up!

I'm so jealous of Noelle's hair - curly, blonde, and perfect! I think she is so beautiful!

One of my favorite things about my clients is that most of the time they will do anything I ask! Noelle and Matt were all about laying down in this field of kudzu all for the sake of a good photo. I couldn't ask for better than that!

This could be my favorite - I love how they are looking at each other! You can just see the love there.

After we finished up at the wheat field, we headed to an abandoned gas station that we had spotted on the way out there. People were driving by and honking, but Noelle and Matt handled it like pros! I think they were just honking in approval, don't you?

Our next stop: a roadside vineyard. I learned something new this day - apparently if you've been around roses, you shouldn't go into a vineyard. We hadn't, but the guy who owned this vineyard told us that roses carry a disease that can kill the grapes... whoops!

But I just adore these photos - the clouds, the lines...

Matt and Noelle, you two are just amazing! I am so glad to have had the chance to shoot some belated engagement photos for you!
