Anne and Tony were married in Canton, Ohio in June. I met them last year before I started working at MHP, so there was a little bit of sentiment traveling back up to the area for this one. Here are some highlights from their wedding:
As you can tell in this first one, I'm in the midst of a very cramped bathroom during the "getting ready" phase of a wedding. This is my life every Saturday - and I love it!!!! |

| Anne and Tony decided to see each other before the wedding to make sure they got lots of pictures with their wedding party and as a couple. They were so SMART to do this. As soon as the ceremony was over, up came a thunderstorm! |

| I love the idea of the groom carrying his brides' flowers for her. So sweet. |

| We did the pre-ceremony pictures at McKinley Monument Park. Kind of a bizarro fact - former President McKinley and his wife are buried in the dome above Anne and Tony's heads. It was such a beautiful background though, with all the stone and the bright blue skies. Blue skies in Canton don't happen too often, so we took advantage of it on this day! |

| This group of girls was the BEST to work with! |

| I remember getting set up for this image. I took a couple where Tony was smiling and then asked him to do something a little more serious, but still sweet. Anne saw his new expression and said "ooooh, I am gonna love that one". I hope you do, Anne! I love it, too! |

| Have you ever seen someone's eyes sparkle more? They are in L.O.V.E. |

| The ceremony was a traditional Catholic mass in an amazing modern-looking church. It was a moving service, with laughter and many tears. |

| The priests were awesome. They let me move around a bit so that I could get what I needed and they were always smiling for the camera. :) |

| The reception was a blast! The theme of the evening was songs from "Journey". The DJ told me later that he thought that was funny because the bride and groom weren't even born when Journey was popular! That didn't stop this group, though. They danced like there was no tomorrow. What a great night!!! |

| Everyone got in on the fun. This lady could really shake it! |

| Thank you so much, Anne and Tony! You are a super sweet couple and I had an amazing time! Oh, and Wendy - I loved the cheesecake! |

I sat right beside Stuart at a local networking meeting a couple of years ago. I never realized she knew my older brother because she was married to one of his close friends growing up. It is amazing how small our little world is and how often you run across people and communicate with them not ever knowing that another connection exists.
Will is 6 month old and it was time for some photos so we headed out to the Yacht Club to create some fun shots of Stuart and Will. Dad was not able to be a part of the session because he had to be at work so we will be sure to include him on the next go round! Will is such a little cutie, look at those cheeks, I wanna squeeze them! |

| Of course, babies are not always happy... |

| I love this shot, the moment, the flare, the way Stuart's hair is blowing! |

Those of you who follow my twitter have been reading about my crazy (and I understand rare) experiences with Apple's new Mobile Me. I finally have the thing figured out, a HUGE thanks to my twitter peeps who have offered their help.
For those of you who have no clue what Mobile Me is, allow me to take a stab at explaining it. It is basically a program which stores all of your information online (in a cloud) and then updates all of your computers, iphone, and ipod touch with real time updates. I originally thought this was going to be like my exchange server and it is is many ways but there is one little thing (a big thing in my book) that makes it very different, but I will get to that in a minute. This program has the ability to integrate your calender, contacts, bookmarks and signature across all of your platforms.
The advantage of this is that if I am on the road with my iphone and I set up an appointment, my studio manager can see the update in real time on her calender back at the studio. This means everything is up to date all the time and there is no multiple entry. Everything reflects the new appointment within minutes.
Another advantage is the ability to sync contacts. When I one of my staff to call someone, they can log into their contact book and see all of my contacts synced to their computer without asking me to send a number and vice versa, NICE!
Bookmarks on Safari will also update meaning that we both basically are working off of the very same internet browser making it easy for us to share links and organize favorites. Another round of applause for apple!
I also have the ability for our studio manager to see my inbox if needed and reply or file the incoming mail... also signatures can be synced, this is SUPER because we use signatures ALL OF THE TIME for quick replies and notifications to our clients and if a change is made to one, it takes affect everywhere!
All in all Apple has made one sweet program for the consumer but with every great thing comes a small glitch or imperfection and these for me are pretty big.
Who knew it would be so hard for me to set up. At first, my iphone would not sync with contacts or email. Once I got the email problem figured out, I still could not get the contacts to sync. I understand I am an exception to the rule, but what a time! It would not have been so bad if it was just hard to set up but I have been trying to get through to support for 4 days with no luck until this afternoon! They have no phone support and you have to just happen to catch a rep available online to chat... most of the time is says chat unavailable. Today I finally got support on the chat after refreshing their site for 3 hours and my questions were answered in seconds. All this after I was told on the phone that NO ONE could help me, c'mon Apple... where is that customer support I am ALWAYS raving about?!
The other issue for me is that I previously had an exchange server so every email I sent came from my email address, not a mobile me address. I really wish there was a way to make it look like the email came from my @millieholloman.com address and would allow others to reply to that address as well. A obvious statement that Mobile Me was made for the consumer and NOT the prosumer.
Again, all in all, Mobile Me is a super product and I am glad to be in sync with it now but I do wish they would change a couple of things! No worries though, our email address is still the same, we just have it forwarding to Mobile Me! |

| When Millie told me that Kara and Brandon wanted to do a day after session with their motorcycle, I pretty much freaked! How fun!!! It was the absolute coolest thing ever to see Kara sitting on that harley with her cute little white helmet. I adore day after sessions because couples are so relaxed and happy. The stress of their wedding plans going perfectly was now over and it was time to have some fun. And that's exactly what we did! The session was a short one, but we got some great stuff. |

| I just love the motion in this image. This was not done in photoshop - that's the real thing, baby! They were flying down that boardwalk! |

OK, her ring was ridiculously beautiful. One thing that I love about photography is the ability to mesh two opposite things - the beauty of the rings and the harsh effect of the skull - to bring a sort of mental contrast that makes the beauty stand out even more.
The harley emblem was on the motorcycle and I took this image while Kara and Brandon were still sitting on it. At one point Millie had her hands on either side of the frame to catch the rings if they slid off the bike. I think we were all holding our breath, but it was totally worth it for this shot! |

| Congratulations Kara and Brandon! |

Those of you who know me know that I am an avid memoir reader. Those of you who know me WELL know that this has not always been the case. I remember in high school opting for cliff notes whenever I could get my hands on them (so sad to think about now). Then one day not even a year ago, I picked up a memoir by Elizabeth George only because Oprah was raving about her. I know, I know. I am such a sucker for hidden advertisement! At least this time it was a good thing. I try to turn off the TV whenever I see McDonald's commercials for the same reason. :) Anyway, I was headed on a long trip and my ipod wasn't working, so I picked up a memoir out of desperation for something to do. One good book was all it took. I probably own half of Borders bookstore's inventory. OK, not quite half, but I've really been racking them up!
I am now an absolute certified bookworm and proud of it. I'll read anything, but I really LOVE LOVE LOVE memoirs. There's something about reading about a person's life and all it's intimate details, horrors and pleasures that is just absolutely riveting to me!
Some of my recent favorites are:
"My Friend Leonard" - A sequel to James Frey's also amazing "A Million Little Pieces" memoir. This book really helped me to be more open-minded about a lot of things. It told a story of death, underground crime, drug and alcohol addiction, and then more death but it was surprisingly hopeful and romantically written. I highly recommend this book to anyone who thinks they have it rough. I guarantee you that James had it rougher and he's a beautiful and positive person because of it.
"The Glass Castle" - I can't believe this memoir. It is what I'm currently reading and I am absolutely dumbfounded that the author, Jeanette Walls, has even the courage to write about her destructive and horrifying past in such a light manner. She tells the story from a child's innocent perspective, as a child not comprehending yet how bad things were for her. There have only been two things in my life that have made me REALLY appreciate my life enough to change the way I view my past and my present. One was a mission's trip to a poverty stricken orphanage in a third world country and the other is this memoir.
"Sellevision" - This novel is aMAZing! I am not super in to novels in general, but I could not put this down. I think I finished it in three days. The last of those three days I stayed up until 6am flipping page by page trying to find a good place to stop. I'd get to a new chapter and put it away...but then I would get the itch and pick it back up again. The only reason I bought this is because I thought it was another memoir from one of my favorite authors, Augusten Burroughs. It was written by Mr. Burroughs, but was definitely not a memoir. This is a perfect answer to all those silly teen soaps on TV right now. If you need a laugh-so-hard-I-just-swallowed-my-gum type of a book, this is the one. I still laugh OUT LOUD just thinking about it sometimes! |

| I just bought a big box of books from Amazon.com, but I'm sure I'll get through that in a few months so let me know if you've read any of these books, what you think of them, or if you have any suggestions on future reads (especially memoirs). One of the books I listed above was recommended by a stranger and it's one of my absolute favorites, so I promise to give it a try if you recommend it! |
