I already knew Mary & Chris' wedding was going to be fabulous even if it was only 1/10th as grand as their engagement party. I just didn't think you could top it... but I was wrong. As always we really enjoyed working with Courtney of Stellar Events who coordinated this wedding, Her wooden tables also added so much elegance to this tented reception.
Jennifer of Salt Harbor came through as always and in my opinion designed her best wedding yet... it was just jaw dropping! From the programs to the escort cards, it was amazing!
When we arrived at the ceremony site Rachel started snapping the details while I scoped out the church!
|

Rachel kneeled down front while I took the back for the straight on ceremony shots... she moved around and captured some great angles!

It's off to Airlie for the reception!

I really heart these umbrella tables by the reception with the amazing light and colorful blooms for a background... it looks like something straight out of a painting!

I LOVED this shot that Kayleigh got... this charm pin holds the name of each of her 4 closet friend who were in the wedding along with Mary's name. They are all planning to be in one another's wedding and she is the first to be wed. Each bride will pass it on to the next to add a little love to their bouquet and remember the bond of friendship they share.

A little fun with the bridal party!

Courtney brought out some lemonade to give the bridal party a little refresher while we were shooting and that definitely called for a toast!

Now for my favorite part... a little alone time with the couple!

Lottie with a A Southern Thyme catered this event and I think you'll agree not only does the below shot make her food look amazing, it is full of flavor and delicious!

Nicki of Nicki's Cakes has the most beautiful cakes Wilmington has to offer. Her attention to details does not go unnoticed but how could it... just look at that cake!

LOVE the flare I captured in this first dance shot...

and the moment Rachel captured in the shot on the right...

Mary & Chris look on as their friends and family toast them!

The reception was fun and these guests were not only fun, they could dance!

These snacks from Sweet & Savory were the perfect way to end the night and provide the guests with a midnight snack!

Mary & Chris - I hope your marriage is as wonderful as your wedding! It was so much fun working with both of you. Thank you for putting your trust in me to capture all of the love, joy, & details of your wedding!

Heather and Orin are a wonderful and carefree couple who have been together since 2006, and still have that spark going strong. Brent and I headed up to Raleigh for their session which started at a carousel. The colors, lights and motion were so much fun and Heather and Orin were having a blast! It was a little bit of a challenge to move around like this and take pictures all at the same time, but so worth it in the end.
Heather first met Orin at a "local watering hole" where she was enjoying meeting some new faces after a long and shall we say, dull meeting. As Heather tells it, she was chatting with some ladies when she was suddenly approached by Orin, who proceeded to flash his cute smile her way. It didn't take long for them to go on their first, and start creating their story together.
While downtown, we decided to stop and have dinner at one of Heather and Orin's favorite places to dine. I love it when we have the chance to hang out with clients and get to know them better. Dinner was delicious and we learned a lot about each other, and now I am pumped about their wedding which is coming up very soon! Thanks to Heather and Orin for a great evening in Raleigh, yummy food and conversation, and we will see you on Bald Head Island. Let's meet for lunch! |

I love this motion shot that Brent captured while the carousel was spinning. He is so clever!

Heather looks so content resting on Orin's shoulder, and that's the way it should be.

Heather is completing her degree in Landscape Architecture, so we stopped by an arboretum where she has spent many hours. It was amazing to listen to her tell us about the different plants in the arboretum (even their latin names!) and you could tell that Orin was so proud of her. I know I was impressed!

Here are just a few out of the many plants that were in the arboretum. I even made sure to capture a shot of Heather's favorite kind of hydrangea.
|

While we were at Siti (the lebanese restaurant) for dinner, we snapped some shots. The lighting was a lot of fun to incorporate into the images.

So, this is one of my all time favorite shots ever, and my wonderful husband took it (I am a little proud, you could say). I love the lighting, the flare, the concept and everything!

Thanks so much to Heather and Orin!

Meredith isn't just a bride here at MHP, she is our realtor and friend. She helped me find the perfect home and was patient with me while I looked over LOTS of other homes before making my final decision. Since she's been so good to me I couldn't say no when she asked me to come out to Nags Head for her engagement session. The home behind them in the below shot is her grandfather's cottage... he built it so it's a very special place for her. She initially wanted to have her wedding there but it will be a bit cold in November when Jason is done with baseball season. He's a coach so his schedule is a bit sparatic. We drove down in the evening, got up at 6am the next morning and started shooting. It was a great time and a nice change of scenery for an engagement session as well as a new shoot time for me, I'm not typically up at that hour...
|

I love the water splashing up in this shot... it looks like Meredith got soaked but she actually didn't get too wet!

Meredith loves the way Jason looks in his baseball caps so she brought one along!

The cottage is so full of amazing little details that hold years of memories. This door frame in particular has the measurements of everyone in the family throughout the years so they could see how the kids grew. Note the second name from the top, Jason was added to the door frame on this trip so I guess that means he is OFFICIALLY a part of the family!

These are the shower houses... everything there is outside. Think bare bones and beachy... no HVAC, open windows, salty air, and lots of character!

I can't wait for their wedding this November.... it's gonna be great!

I met up with Haylee and Brandon in front of the old theatre where their wedding will be held in Conway, SC. When I saw this stunning couple walk toward me in their vintage attire, my jaw dropped. I was like "ooohhh, this is gonna be good". Haylee's dress was her grandmother's, making it so much more special! I just love how committed they both are to the look! They even asked the theatre to change the lettering on the message board to reflect their wedding date. One of these next images will end up being the cover image for their wedding invitations.

No one has ever been married in this theatre before. They had to get it approved by a board of directors and everything, but Haylee's heart was set on it. It was soooo worth it! The entire wedding will be decorated around a peacock feather. I can see it now and it's fantastic.

After a few images in the seating area, we headed back stage to the props and costume rooms. Everything about this next image reads "drama" to me.

Haylee had the most amazing idea to use some of the shoes backstage in a picture. I think it turned out so great!

Brandon had such a hard time keeping a straight face for this! hahahaha

It was only appropriate to do a ring shot on their ticket stub.

After a quick "costume" change, we took a little ride out on the back of their parents' property in a john boat. I had never heard of a john boat before being a city girl through and through, but I was quickly schooled on the fact that it's just a fishing boat. Now that I have the southern lingo down, I can enjoy the fact that Haylee and Brandon did an amazing job! It was raining in these next few images, but that didn't stop them one little bit.

There were beautiful trees in the middle of the lake, making this scene almost surreal.

This might be my favorite shot of the day. I heart the way Haylee is looking at Brandon.

No, wait. This one is my favorite! Augh! Can I have two favorites?

I got so excited about the boat idea that I actually got in for a few. Thanks guys for not laughing at me when I screamed like a baby about getting my feet wet!

Haylee and Brandon, I love your southern charm and cannot wait for your wedding day! You were such a joy to photograph.
