We’re based all over North Carolina (Wilmington, Raleigh, & Charlotte), but we work all over the world. What do we shoot? In one word: Love. Wedding Love. Baby Love. Family Love. Love of details. Love of design. Love of nature. And this blog? Well, it showcases the images, the people, and the stuff we want to share, both professionally and personally. So what are you waiting for? Come on in and look around.
We want you to get the most out of your time here, so here are a few helpful tips: Check out the text block above that says: “photographers”. Use it to get to know just one photographer better by sorting just their images, twitter updates or bio. Wondering who shot what? Look for the signature on the bottom left of each photograph. portland + a new perspective

My husband, Andrew, and I have not visited his brother since he moved to the west coast eight years ago. Eight years! We have been saying for the longest time that we need to make it a priority to visit, but sometimes things just gets in the way. Sometimes it's work. Sometimes it's day to day chores. Days turn into years and life has a way of passing us by so quickly.
This trip has put something into perspective for me. I made a decision to not take a lot of pictures during this trip. Not because I didn't think there would be photo worthy moments, believe me! We went to some beautiful places as well as some really quirky, interesting ones. The adult soap box derby was one of my favorites. We saw everything from soap boxes that looks like tanks and shot out water balloons to one that looked like a basketball court with real players. It was so funny! I realized, though, that if I would have had my camera with me I would have put it in front of my face as every car whizzed by instead of just enjoying the moment and cheering along with the crowd.
I see this happen all the time at weddings. Guests go around with their consumer cameras in their faces all day long trying to get a great picture of the bride walking down the aisle or the groom hugging his father. These are all wonderful moments and one of the many reasons I love my job. But sometimes I feel for those people stuck behind a lens instead of enjoying the moment. A wedding is a once in a lifetime thing for many. My suggestion is to enjoy that moment to the fullest with them! Don't worry. We'll capture all the memories you'll ever need from that special day...so that you don't have to!
The two times I did take my camera with me was to Cannon Beach during sunset and Multnomah Falls. I hope you enjoy a glimpse into my vacation! |

Michelle and Daniel live in Dallas, Texas, but they have family here in North Carolina. Their wedding was held in Winston Salem at Wake Forest University and was just lovely! Every detail was perfection, but what really stood out to me on this wedding was Michelle and Danny's personalities. They are one of the most fun and truly happy couples I've met in a long time! I really did have a wonderful time working with them and their families. I hope that comes out in these images!
The day began at Wait Chapel, where the girls were getting ready. Courtney (my awesome assistant) helped me set the dress up for this shot... |

...and then we took a few more around the grounds of the flowers.

These next two images show Michelle's fun personality perfectly!

Michelle and Danny did not want to see each other before their wedding ceremony, but they did want to take some fun pictures with their wedding party. Love these!

When the front cover for the ceremony program says "It'll be quick. We promise!", you know the couple is fun. These programs were so great. They even included a few images from their engagement shoot in Dallas, Texas.

A few more finishing touches just moments before the ceremony.

A few minutes into the ceremony, the rain started. To anyone else, it may have seemed a downer. But Michelle was prepared with Coach rain boots and a fun umbrella! Nothing was going to stop her from getting pictures of her and Daniel. My clients are seriously the best!

A quick shot of Michelle's sister, niece and mother heading toward the reception.

Favorite shot of the day. The chapel behind, the umbrella, and Michelle's beautiful smile.

The reception was held in the Benson Center at the university and was decorated in grays and blues.

The first dance was emotional and oh, so lovely. They even danced to a song from Regina Spektor, one of my favorite artists!

After dinner and some beautiful toasts, the party really started!

Michelle and Danny ended their wedding day with a classic sparkler exit.

Michelle and Daniel, I can't express in words how much fun it was to work with you! I feel so blessed to have played a small part in your wedding celebration. Thank you for being the best clients ever! I wish you the very best in your life together.

I'm super excited for Torri and Mike's wedding this coming October, it's right around the corner and they are pulling out all the stops for a really fabulous event! We started out the session right in their backyard (don't you wish this was your backyard? I do!) Throughout this entire shoot a thunderstorm threatened but we were able to finish out before the rains rolled in which made for some beautiful light and a perfect night on Wrightsville Beach.
Meet Torri, Mike, and Morgan!
|

How cute are these two? LOVE!

This is my favorite shot of the day. I love how comfortable they are in each others arms and how completely content they look!

Once we finished shooting for a few minutes on the sand it was time to hit the small town of Wrightsville Beach and walk around for some more fun, we just strolled along with no real plans until I felt like we came upon the perfect spots and viola!

Torri, Mike, and Morgan - thanks so much for a fabulous night at the beach. I can't wait for October to get here already, it's going to be a blast!

When I first emailed with Laura about her engagement session with Paul, they were in Ghana! Yep, you heard me. Ghana. Paul is in the foreign service, so when they got back to the states, we were finally able to meet and have their session. They are so much fun!

Wrightsville Beach was the perfect spot for them. They spend a lot of time there, since Laura's parents live close by, and who can blame them? I would spend a lot of time there, too!

Laura and Paul met in high school and have been together ever since then. I love a sweet story like that. Paul told me, "We just decided that we couldn't live without each other. So we're getting married."

Laura, you are so pretty!

Beach Access 33 is where they always go when they hit the beach. It's the perfect spot - away from the crowds at the piers.

After some time on the beach, we headed back over to the neighborhood where Laura's parents live. As soon as I saw the lines painted on the speed bumps I knew we had to use them! This is definitely one of my favorites!

Congratulations Laura and Paul! I can't wait for your wedding!

I met up with Melissa and Nick in downtown Wilmington for their engagement session. We just missed a crazy storm and lots of rain, so our timing was perfect! Melissa is a medical resident, and Nick is a Marine, and they just make the cutest couple!

Puddles leftover from a storm make for fun reflections.

We walked all around downtown Wilmington to find some fun little spots to shoot. It was fun watching the way that Nick and Melissa love each other. Melissa's sandal broke about 10 minutes into our session, and it was Nick to the rescue! With the help of a bobby pin, he fixed her shoe, if only temporarily. It was so sweet.

I think you guys are such a beautiful couple!

Even a broken shoe didn't stop Melissa. When I asked them to step back into this little spot, she didn't even flinch.

Melissa and Nick, I am so excited to be a part of your big day! Congratulations on your engagement!
