katherine + chad . new york, ny

Katherine found us online and booked over email so until I arrived in New York for their engagement session I had never met this lovely couple. When Katherine walked through the door of the hotel to meet me in the lobby, I was hoping she would be my client because she was dressed in an adorable outfit and had a beautiful smile! She had mentioned to me via email that their was quite a bit of difference in her and Chad's height so I knew I wanted to play up on that a bit in the session (and we did a little). The coolest part of this story is how these two met. They attended the same college for the same degree, theater. However, neither of them met until their schedule of classes took them overseas to study abroad. It was here that their love story began. Now they are both living in the big city and they'll be coming to North Carolina for a wedding in March.

We stayed within about six or seven city blocks for this session (maybe even less). The Natural History Museum is one of their favorite places to walk around and hang out so this became the chosen location for our session. Shooting in New York is always so much fun for me... people are so uninhibited by me taking photos around them and I love to catch life going on amongst the "love" a couple shares!




We had the most fabulous afternoon light!






This might be my favorite shot from their session. I asked this guy to stay seated and keep reading and I think he thought I was nuts but I love it. Him reading, his outfit, everything about it, it is SOOOO New York to me!



It's beginning to look like Fall in the city, much more than it is down here in North Carolina!






A couple of shots in Central Park, one of the most magical places in the world. I'm always amazed that such a peaceful place sits right in the center of a HUGE city!



Okay... so the next two are also in my "top favorites" from this shoot. This is what I'm talking about, life just keeps on moving and here are these two totally absorbed in one another... I LOVE IT!








The shadows... I really do love shadows.


Katherine and Chad, it was so great to finally get to meet the both of you in person. Our session got me that much more excited to photograph your wedding this coming March, I can hardly wait. I know it's going to be incredible. I hope you both have an amazing Fall in the big city!
