emily + chris . white sulphur springs, wv

09.20.11 ~ Weddings ~ posted by Millie, Brent & Amanda

Emily and Chris were married in the sweet small town of White Sulphur Springs, WV. Don't let it's small size fool you though because it's home to the largest resort I've ever seen, The Greenbrier. Amanda and I started out the day at the cottage where Emily and her bridesmaids were getting ready. Every I was dotted and every T crossed and I can promise you this wedding ran on time to the second, just take a peek at the little note that greeted everyone who entered the cottage...

Emily pulled these out to show me the beautiful hand spun, hand glazed set of bowls each of her bridesmaids received, what a wonderful gift!

Brent headed over to the cottage to grab some shots of Chris getting ready...

Behold, The Greenbrier!

I followed Emily over to her suite at the Greenbrier while she wrapped up the finishing touches and got ready to see her husband to be!

Emily's mom lending a hand...

The guys could not quite figure out how to get Chris' silk pocket square to look just right so they headed to the men's store in The Greenbrier where they knew just what to do...

As I mentioned earlier, Chris and Emily decided to see one another before the ceremony. We call this a "First Sight" and we love them because not only does it give us the chance to get some great expressions of them seeing one another, it also allows for lots of photo time so it's just the two of them following the ceremony!

Designer Dorthy Draper decorated the Greenbrier so you can be sure of one thing, there is NO lack of color. We had bright colors, patterns and great furniture galore!

I love this shot of grandparents and parents laughing while photos were being taken...

I love the way Chris looks at Emily!

That blue ceiling... I want my front porch ceiling to be this awesome!

Check out the pattern in Emily's dress, it was subtle and perfect!

Emily's bridesmaids were not only all smiles that day, they were incredibly helpful. This shot Brent grabbed of them helping Emiliy back into the resort shows just how fabulous they were!

Just wait until you see the adorable chapel these two were married in, it is just picture perfect!

While Brent and I shot the ceremony, Amanda waited outside to get this shot of them exiting the chapel...

Emily's Dad congratulating Chris following the ceremony...

Chris' dad giving him a hug to say well done and that minister, he is so great, he makes me laugh!

The newlyweds waited at the bottom of the stairs to greet guests and thank them for sharing in their special day...

I told you it was a SWEET chapel!

Emily's family started Gillespie's Flowers in 1923. They did all of the flowers for the wedding of course and by request (and I'm glad they told me about this) we photographed the two of them following the ceremony right outside of this very special place (just one block from the chapel), somewhere incredibly close to their heart! I can see this photo hanging in the shop years from now to display another piece of their family's beautiful history, and that makes me smile!

The reception took place at Kate's Mountain Lodge which is also owned by The Greenbrier and it was southern charm at it's finest!

Just look at this panoramic view that overlooked the reception... it does not get any prettier folks!

First introduction as husband and wife...

Emily's Dad gave a touching toast to the newlyweds and was joined on the stage by Emily's mother, Mary, and Chris' parent. I just love both of their families, one thing is for sure, they come from good people!

Emily's sister gave a toast reliving memories of growing up and she definitely tugged on some heart strings...

Chris' brother gave a toast that had the whole crowd laughing, including me, he is hilarious!

The gentleman at the top left wins for the best dressed guest, check out that jacket!

Emily and Chris - what a fabulous day! So happy for you both and it was an honor to share in your wedding. I wish you both many, many years of love, joy, happiness and the best memories life can throw your way.
