Hi there! Welcome to the Millie Holloman Photography blog. Our company has just one name, but we’re an entire team of crazy, creative, passionate, professional photographers. We’re based all over North Carolina (Wilmington, Raleigh, & Charlotte), but we work all over the world. What do we shoot? In one word: Love. Wedding Love. Baby Love. Family Love. Love of details. Love of design. Love of nature. And this blog? Well, it showcases the images, the people, and the stuff we want to share, both professionally and personally. So what are you waiting for? Come on in and look around.

We want you to get the most out of your time here, so here are a few helpful tips: Check out the text block above that says: “photographers”. Use it to get to know just one photographer better by sorting just their images, twitter updates or bio. Wondering who shot what? Look for the signature on the bottom left of each photograph. Looking for something specific? Type the topic or a keyword into the search bar above for related results.

04.29.09 ~ Engagement ~ posted by Brent & Amanda

Danielle and Joseph are getting married this weekend at the beautiful Airlie Gardens here in Wilmington, NC. We are so pumped to be shooting them this weekend and can't wait to see what is in store!

Brent and I headed out to their farm to shoot their engagement session, and had a blast! The farm was complete with lots of land, a barn, a little pond and even a garden where they had recently planted corn. We decided to start in this little building called the "Salt House." I loved this little building so much that I knew we had to use it in their session. Danielle us told that the salt house was what they used before their were refrigerators everywhere to preserve meats. Crazy enough, there were even big chunks of salt still in the building!

Thanks to Danielle and Joseph for a great session, for hanging out and even the cokes! We can't wait to see what great times we'll have this weekend!

Fun little details...

Joseph is so sweet to Danielle and I love the way he cares for her. He seems happy to be wherever she is! Also, a really fun little story... Danielle refers to Joseph as Jose... we think it's awesome because she is the only one who calls him this!

They brought their dogs, Mason and Doc, along as well. While Brent and I were working with them, the dogs snuck away for a little dip in the pond. They may have been wet, but they were ready to play and even have some of their own pictures taken! Too cute!

I love this pink house, and if it looks familiar there is a reason why. This was the house they used to film the movie "The Secret Life of Bees" ! Scouters came and asked Danielle and Joseph's family if they could use the house for the movie and they were happy to let them. The house was blue originally, but the set crew painted it bright pink to go along with the story. Eventually, the house will be restored to it's original color, but for now it remains pink (but I think it is so fun!).

The little wall that they are sitting on was actually built for the movie. I believe it is called "The Wailing Wall" where one of the characters goes to write notes about her emotions and then tucks the notes away into the cracks of the walls. I wonder if any of those notes were ever left?

After our adventures on the farm and the pepto-bismol pink house, we decided to head back into Wilmington to grab some shots near the beach. Joseph's parents live right on the sound, so we thought it would be a great place to capture them right on the water. Another fun fact: they are standing on a spiral staircase that Joseph actually built himself. What's funny is that it was Danielle's first time on the staircase, Joseph claimed it's because she didn't trust his building... Danielle argues she's just never used it! I love couples!

I love the negative space in this shot...

Great bird's eye view...

We had Danielle and Joseph walk out onto the dock and sit and enjoy the last few minutes of sun light from the day. It was so peaceful out there and it made me want to stop and just enjoy the rest of the day as well. Ahhhhhhhh.....

Okay, so this has to be one of my favorite shots from the day. I don't think there is a better way to capture the love between Danielle and Joseph. I wish I could take the credit for this picture but I am happy to give it to my talented husband, Brent!

See you two this weekend!
