Have you ever heard of the saying, "when life hands you lemons, make lemonade?" This saying never rang more true for Brent and I than during Kara and Matthew's Engagement session. Kara and Matthew are getting married later this year, and decided to have their e-session down in the wonderful city of Savannah, GA!
On our way down, Brent and I watched the weather turn from cloudy with some sun, to overcast, to huge dark clouds hovering above. Each cloud was a smoldering dark grey, bursting at the seams with rain drops ready to bomb us on every inch of our bodies. All I could do was laugh, pray and start getting creative about what to do for the session.
Of course the rains came (and even a little bit of flooding in the streets). I asked Kara and Matthew about any places that were meaningful and special to them. They told me about a little chapel called the Isle of Hope, which we could get into if we wanted. Naturally, we said "Let's go and make the most of it!"
The chapel was beautiful and very peaceful, and with the rain falling all around, the perfect place to capture the love between Kara and Matthew. They were so great and very willing to do anything we asked.
Matthew treats Kara with the utmost respect and Kara finds so much comfort in Matthew. They are both so sweet to each other and a great example of how couples should serve one another. Thanks so much to Kara and Matthew for "making life into lemonade" and we can't wait until your wedding. It's going to be amazing! |

I loved the old wooden benches in the Chapel. Very rustic.

Brent and I played around with our lighting and took some fun flare shots inside the chapel. It's always fun to experiment!

Super cool shot that Brent took inside the chapel. Love it!

I decided to venture outside and see what I could do shooting into the chapel. If only you could have seen my little system (I was huddled under an umbrella, all the while shooting with my camera. It's was tricky, but turned out pretty cool. Thanks to my hubby, Brent for helping with the lighting.)

Eventually, the rains subdued enough for Brent and I to both shoot outside. I absolutely love the reflections in the water of Kara and Matthew. The rain does have its advantages. A large puddle formed right in front of the chapel. It almost looks like the church is surrounded by water.

When Kara and Matthew mentioned that they actually enjoyed the rain, light bulbs flashed over Brent and I! We decided to take Kara and Matthew to the bluff (that overlooks the sound) and shoot some more. It was so much fun!

As a team, sometimes Brent and I have fun and creative ideas that can't be pulled off without the help of one another. It's always fun to see what can be created when we are working together.

I love the angle of the rain in this shot.

Again, my husband captures my favorite photo from the session. I love everything about this image; the color, the lighting, the mood. It's absolutely breath taking and it makes my heart feel so good!
