Every year, the amazing staff and volunteers at Freedom House Church put together a FREE week long kids camp for the local community. It's an opportunity for children to learn about God while making friends, playing games, watching skits and singing songs. What a blast! This year's theme was High Seas Expedition and everything centered around water. I was able to attend the kickoff night as well as the finale, and both times I went home soaked!

At the beginning of every evening, all the kids gather in the auditorium. They really went all out this year with the decorations!

Some of the skits were serious...

...but most of them were very funny. I wonder who's job it was to clean up all that sun tan lotion afterwards.

*gasp*! :)

At the end of every night, there was someone there to present the message of God's love. Pastor Penny took the stage the first night. Throughout the week, there were over 500 decisions for Christ!!!

I LOVE it when kids lead worship.

Every day after the lesson, the kids would split up with their crew leaders to go to a game, a craft and a snack. Even food time was a time of learning! This pile of yummy treats was more than meets the eye to these kids. The graham crackers were the floor of a jail, the pretzels the bars, the marshmallow Paul. Eating the snack after putting it together was like freeing Paul from the jail. So creative, right?

You KNOW the kids loved the eating part!

The last night was a carnival of sorts. There were outdoor games, more free food and LOTS of water rides! Parents were invited to come that evening making it a packed house and a great time for families to bond.

The games' odds weren't stacked against them like most carnivals. Every kid was a winner!

One of the attractions was a dunking booth. The staff and some of the volunteers got dunked over and over again because the line was so long the entire evening! Seeing Pastor Troy get dunked was priceless.

Can you say "sugar high"? ;)

This is where I got soaked. In order to get the shot, I had to get in. Was it worth it? Absolutely!

Did I mention this kids camp was a HUGE event? Freedom House Church doesn't do things half way!

A HUGE thank you to all the volunteers and staff at Freedom House Church for offering something amazing like this to the community. You all rock the house! I can't wait for next year.

Amy ... Daniel - what a terrific night! Thank you so much for trusting me to capture your special day... I pray you have many more years of laughter, love and dancing!

Amy ... Daniel's wedding was held at Grace United Methodist Church in downtown Wilmington, NC. However, I started the day off by meeting the girls at Bangz Hair Salon. Amy's bridesmaids were just fabulous so when I arrived there was lots of fun chatter, helping one another, making sure Amy was well taken care of and plenty of excitement!

Daniel's brother is helping him get his tie just right in this shot...

When Amy's father saw her for the first time it was an incredibly emotional moment for the entire family. Get a peek of Amy's mom and sister on the right hand side!

and even Amy was moved to tears...

A quick walk through the basement to get to the front of the church right before Amy walked down the aisle!

Grace really is a BEAUTIFUL place to get married and the rule is you have to stay planted in the balcony for photography!

After the ceremony, it was off to Surf Club in Wrightsville Beach where we took a quick walk on the beach for some images with the bridal party...

I LOVED all of the little touched by Salt Harbor like the decals on the doors, streamers for the guests to wave on their exit, State and UNC! The Surf Club always has amazing food to serve as well!

Once again... I always love spotting the emotion from parents and family!

Right before sunset I snuck away with Amy ... Daniel onto the beach. A huge thanks to Angela who shot this wedding with me all the way from Canada and ran in to get the bread so we could attract some seagulls... totally worth it!

LOVE!

Daniel is a dentist so the candy bar was complete with a bowl of toothbrushes and a little sign reminding guests to "brush their teeth".

This group was great and they partied well into the night... loved them! Lots of laughter and goofing off!

and a pedi-cab to wrap up the night...

I love that they tied old shoes to the back of the pedi cab... so cute!

Joanna and Jesse are young and very much in love. They traveled up to Charlotte from Salisbury (their hometown) for their engagement session and we had an absolute blast! They chose to bring two things that were personal to them as a couple. The first was this red 4x4. I know what you're thinking. How could a truck be personal enough to include in a photo shoot? Well, I'll tell ya! Joanna and Jesse had their very first date eating ice cream in the back of this truck. They were young (still in high school), nervous and crazy about each other. Ah, love!

This sweet couple is getting married next spring at the Orchard House and couldn't be more excited!

The property we shot on was full of little sheds and nooks like this. I shot first from the inside...

...and then went outside for a completely different perspective on the same location. Don't you just love a blue sky?

Love the simplicity of this one.

The second thing Jesse brought for their engagement session was this harley. Jesse was waiting for the harley pictures with anxious anticipation. When it was time, he lit up like a lightbulb! Boys and their grown-up toys, right? ;)

Favorite!

At the very end of the session just moments before the sun went down, Joanna and Jesse took a drive through the open field. Don't they look like they're going so fast?!

Joanna and Jesse, you were so fun and carefree to work with! I had a great time with you both and can't wait for your wedding next year!

I always love the reactions that happen as the bride walks down the aisle. The people in the back row, who get the best view, at least for a while, the people straining to see from the front, and the groom, waiting in anticipation for his bride to turn the corner. Perfection.

The Shoals Club deck is such a gorgeous place to get married, don't you think?

And I think the smiles on Diane and Ed's faces say it all... such joy!

Diane, you are stunning!

Such a fun bridal party - you guys have the best friends!

I stole away with Diane and Ed for a little while after the ceremony for some pictures of just the two of them. It was such a gorgeous day - bright blue skies and near-100 degree heat to go along with it - but you wouldn't know it to look at them!

I love to shoot at the beach - the wind, the waves, the sand...

Thanks to Courtney for grabbing these lovely details while I was out with the couple. I love the color scheme and how everything just works so well together!

A sweet, sweet first dance...

With plenty of onlookers from the club's pool - dreaming of the day it will be their turn.

And then.... it was party time!

Diane and Ed - thank you so much for letting me be a part of your day! I had the best time, and I wish you all the best in your marriage!

Diane and Ed are the kind of people who have never met a stranger. They are warm, genuine, and friendly, and every bit of that spilled over into their wedding day on Bald Head Island.

I met up with Diane and her bridesmaids at the spa on the island, where they were all getting their hair and makeup done by the talented staff there.

Even the flower girl got a little touch up while we were there. This girl cracked me up - she was a couple years older than your typical flower girl, but she told Diane that she could act like she was 6, just so she could be in the wedding. Who could say no to that?

Courtney came along to second shoot with me, and while I was with the ladies, she hung out with the guys. In typical guy fashion, while the girls have been getting ready for hours, they were playing around and goofing off. Oh, they have it so easy!

Ed, looking very handsome and relaxed - just as you should on your wedding day.

Kim Fisher was responsible for all the beautiful florals. I just love the unexpected touches - that seafoam green plant reminded me so much of coral. It was the perfect touch for an island wedding!

Talk about unique - on the left, that was the ringbearer's pillow. So fun!

Waiting for the signal to start walking down the aisle - these kiddos were so excited!

Alicia and Stephen are such a sweet couple. They found me through friends who we've photographed many times and I'm glad they did. Their first child is due very soon and rumor has it I'll be meeting them again when the little one arrives for another photo session. We met in Downtown Wilmington where I explained to Alicia ... Stephen that I like to just walk around and see what "pops out at me" so that exactly what we did. For our first shot we lucked out and found the perfect little bike parked in an alley!

How beautiful are they together?! I know they are bound to have one adorable baby!

I think Stephen might think I was nuts when I was explaining this shot but maybe he'll think differently now! I like it!

A little fun looking around for a number that is their due date... we finally found it!

How stinking adorable is this little restaurant? When it cools off a little outside, I'm going back here to grab lunch!

Stephen ... Alicia! Thanks so much for a fun session... I'm excited to meet you again when your little one arrives!

"I'm one of those girls that said they'd never get married. Then I met Brian." There's nothing like true love to change your mind, your plans and your life. Tiffany and Brian were married on a gorgeous day on Bald Head Island. Their wedding day was thoughtfully inspired by their military service but the focus was all on the two of them and their love.

The getting ready part of the day is always my favorite. When Lindsey and I arrived at Tiffany's beach house and saw this beautiful bride, we were so excited for the wedding!

Brunswick Town Florist did an amazing job with the florals. Isn't Tiffany's bouquet beautifully different? I adore it!

Jessica Scully did a great job coordinating this wedding. Tiffany and Brian live out of state and Tiffany was in her first year of law school, which can create a few challenges, but everything went smoothly and was designed beautifully.

Tiffany and Brian were so excited to see each other before the ceremony! I love it when couples decide to do this. I promise it has nothing to do with pictures, though! What's so awesome about what we call a "first sight" is that any nerves that a bride or groom may have had while getting ready seem to melt away at the sight of the one they love. This time was no different.

We had a short time to take some photos of the couple before guests started arriving at the Shoals Club , but moments like this made that short time priceless!

I really love this location for a wedding ceremony. It doesn't get much better than this!

This series is awesome and was shot by Lindsey. Thank you Lindsey, for all your hard work!

Another reason Tiffany and Brian wanted to do a first sight and get some pictures done before the ceremony was so that they could enjoy the end of cocktail hour with their guests. That food looks yummy!

The naval color scheme continued on inside the reception site and each table was named after a famous port. Adding personal touches to a wedding makes it so elegant and lovely!

Tiffany and Brian came outside and enjoyed their first dance in some of the most gorgeous light I've ever seen. Wowza!

Many congratulations to the happy couple!

For this wedding we had to bring in a few extra props and with that said, MAJOR props to Salt Harbor who had the vision for making this TruthBooth the most unique ever to really tie in the theme of the wedding. Welcome our "Clue" themed TruthBooth a "once in a lifetime made especially for Mandy ... Drew" photo booth. What a night! I (Millie) actually ran this booth since it was a new venture for us while Brent ... Amanda captured the wedding. It was loads of fun!

The booth was full of weapons and other "Clue" inspired props where guests could goof off, seek revenge, pull off their own murder mystery, and even just enjoy a little company!

Brent's favorite table was the Conservatory.

My favorite was the Ballroom. Those red shoes are fabulous!

Tell me which "room" is your favorite?

Thanks again to Salt Harbor for such an explosion of creativity on Mandy and Drew's clue theme. Each guest table was completely different and unique in itself. Not only did the Salt Harbor team design a table (based on the board game), they also created some extra rooms as well! The rustic feel of Balcony on Dock added nicely to the feel of the design as well. Bravo to all of those involved!
